🎆 🚨 FIREWORKS ALERT! 🚨 🐾

Fireworks have already started, and they'll likely continue throughout the weekend. While we may enjoy the celebrations, our pets often experience fear, panic, and confusion.

💔 Every year, animal shelters and lost pet organizations see a dramatic increase in missing pets around the Fourth of July. Frightened dogs and cats can jump fences, break leashes, push through screens, or bolt through an open door in seconds.

Please take these steps NOW to help keep your pets safe:

🏠 Keep pets indoors—even if they're normally outside or have a secure fence.

🚪 Double-check all doors, gates, and windows before letting anyone in or out.

🎵 Create a calm environment by closing curtains and playing the TV, music, or a fan to help drown out the noise.

🐶 Exercise your dog earlier in the day before the fireworks begin.

🏷️ Make sure your pet is wearing an ID tag with your current phone number.

📱 Check that your microchip registration is up to date. A microchip only works if the contact information is current.

❤️ Stay home with anxious pets if possible. Your presence can make a big difference.

🚫 Never take your pet to a fireworks display. Even the calmest pets can panic unexpectedly.

If your pet does go missing:
📸 Start searching immediately.
📞 Contact your local animal shelters, animal control and PetFBI.org
📱 Post clear photos and information on Lost Dogs Texas and other local lost-and-found pet groups.

Let's work together to make this Independence Day a safe one for our four-legged family members.

🐾 Please share this post—you may help prevent a beloved pet from becoming lost this weekend.

🇺🇸 Have a safe and happy Fourth of July from all of us at Lost Dogs Texas. ❤️🐶

07/03/26 Honey - Available for Pre-Adoption!
Bio update below:
Honey is a beautiful kind quiet gentle girl that loves to have love. She does not get on furniture, but has learned it's acceptable if invited.
Honey loves to go for rides and loves her morning walks.
Honey is completely house trained and never has needed crating. She has never shown any resource guarding around other dogs, but has made sure to create a boundary with overzealous doggies. She prefers for things to be calm and quiet around her.
On walks she likes to pace 1 step in front of her person, and is on full alert for squirrels. She has lunged at a few treed squirrels when her humans (me) weren't paying attention.
We believe she is heeler mix, and has the personality of a cattle dog. Honey loves to bark at the horses, goats, and the donkey when they get too close to her yard fence. She also enjoys barking at the working barn kitties when they run past her. She is great with other dogs and is scared of dog friendly kitties.
She has met a few house cats, under supervised meets, and has shown avoidance with them. She won't make eye contact and does her best to get away from them. We believe a dog friendly cat that won't run from her will be just fine.
Honey has met smaller kiddos and does well as long as they are calm. When they get excited and run and play her cow dog instincts kick in and she likes to follow in pursuit. Because of this we believe she will do best in a home without small happy playful kiddos bouncing around.
Overall Honey is a perfect girl who is chill and loves to go sightseeing. She is cautious meeting strangers and prefers to approach them once she has observed them for a few minutes.
She will make a great companion in a home with another dog(s) and comes completely trained!

Basically.........
If you combine the breed characteristics of an Australian Cattle Dog and a German Shepherd, you will get a great understanding of Honey's personality.
Calm, quiet, reserved, friendly, kind, gentle, inquisitive, treat motivated, eager to learn, and loyal to her people. :)
Thanks for reading to the END..... Honey has completed her heart worm treatments and will get the "all clear" in a few more weeks. She is available for PRE-Adoption at HSNBA!

Dr Madigan is the world renowned research veterinarian on Chagas and the impact it has on our domestic pets.

This is a wonderful informative video on the WHAT and HOW Chagas is spread.

Please follow his clinic page to learn more about how we can test, protect, and treat our pets if they become Chagas positive.

It’s been such an honor to learn from him through our Texas Pet Sitters Association.
