Are you looking for a fun way to meet people and give back to your community?
We have JUST the thing πŸ˜ƒ

Volunteer at our thrift stores!! Paw's West Sedona and Paw Prints Thrift need your help πŸ™ We lose about 60% of our volunteer force each summer across the board, and our thrift stores need those extra hands to operate!

Whether you're merchandising, sorting donations, running the register, or updating tags, your time will be vital to the animals here at HSS (and a lot of fun too!)

Our thrift stores provide around 40% of our operating budget, meaning they are VERY important to all the homeless animals you see on our page. Can you help us keep our stores up and running?!

Volunteering at our thrift stores is a fun, meaningful way to connect with the community while helping provide food, shelter, and medical care for animals in need.

Come be part of something special 🐾

***COURTESY POST***

Sadie is in need of a new home πŸ™

Age: 3 months
Weight: 7lbs
Breed: Australian Sheperd/German Sheperd
S*x: Unaltered female

Sadie is a happy puppy who is in need of a new home. She enjoys play time, she also enjoys her water, she loves treats, and cuddle time. She enjoys playing with her toys and will do that all day until she falls asleep. Sadie does not like bathtime and loud/weird noises like the garbage truck. doesn't have experience with other animals yet. They seem to scare her, but her guardian thinks that's because she hasn't been around them. Sadie did have a UTI when her current guardian got her, but that has been resolved with medication. She is working on potty training now. She loves being petted, loves people. She's been around a couple kids and grown ups and she does great. Sadie has not received all of her vaccinations yet, just her first round.

If you are interested in giving Sadie a new home, please contact her current guardian using the information below.

Six little kittens found in the dumpster here at the shelter…

But their story is not what you think.

We will share their story soon, but now we just need to focus on their care and socialization ❀️

If you’d like to donate to these babies, we would love that! You can help by sending some kitten food our way from our Amazon Wishlist or by sending a monetary donation to the dumpster kittens.

Kitten season continues and this is one of the busiest we’ve had. Thank you your love and support! πŸ™

It's International Working Dog Day! We're celebrating the incredible dogs whose intelligence, dedication, and drive help make the world a better place!

We're especially proud to recognize two members of our HSS family whose canine partners serve our community in extraordinary ways. Both Executive Director Jennifer Brehler and shelter veterinarian, Dr. Yank are active members of Verde Search and Rescue-VSAR, alongside their highly trained search and rescue dogs (Moon, Cooper, Sava & Ivy!) These remarkable teams stand ready to help locate missing people and assist in emergencies throughout our region.

We're also excited to share that one of our very own shelter pups Baxter, is following in their pawprints! He is currently in foster and training to become a professional working dog!

Happy International Working Dog Day to all the hardworking dogs out thereβ€”and to the humans who take the time to train and love them!πŸ•βœ¨

When will this happy happy dog find a home!?

Sampson is a big goofy dog who LOVES life and all the joys it brings. We love this big ham and he loves everyone too! He's been bunking with us since last June when he was found as a stray in Sunset Park. We can't believe he hasn't been scooped up! He loves to go on walks and trail runs. And fetch is a game he will ALWAYS play with you.

He's gone offsite with one of our volunteers a few times and did great. He was a perfect gentleman on their trip to Home Depot and did great in a home environment.

Sampson is a big guy and needs a family who will keep him active and shower him in love! He also needs a very secure yard since he is a bit of an escape artist when left to his own devices πŸ˜‚ Sampson is just 6 years old and has so much life and love to give!

If you'd like to meet Handsome Sampson, please call us to set up an appointment! 928-282-4679

And if you can't adopt Sampson, we understand. But could you PLEASE like and share this post to help him reach a wider audience? That would be amazing!! πŸ™πŸ’–

Happy Monday, everyone! πŸ’–

You know a new week means a new Pet of the Week! And this week, we are highlighting MAMA CAT! 🌟

Her story is one of resilience and we just can't wait for someone to give her a chance to know what the safety and love of a home can feel like.

Mama Cat is a gentle soul who found as a stray with her kittens and brought to HSS. When she arrived, she had scrapes and wounds along her back and the top of her head β€” little signs of a hard life spent simply trying to survive and protect her babies. Thankfully, with love, rest, and medical care, Mama Cat has been healing beautifully and her hair has finally grown back!

After spending at least part of her life outdoors and facing more hardships than any cat should, Mama Cat is finally discovering the comfort of warm beds, full bowls, and kind hands. Though she may be shy at first, you can tell she wants to be loved. She enjoys having her cheeks rubbed and eating Churu treats, even if she prefers to stay in her cubby while she interacts with you.

Mama Cat is just about 2 years old and is looking for a compassionate adopter who will allow her to build trust at her own pace and celebrate every little victory along the way. Watching her transform from a timid survivor into a cherished family member will be an incredibly rewarding journey. If you are interested in meeting Mama Cat, please call us to set up an appointment! 928-282-4679

Kitten season success stories keep rolling in and we love to hear them!

Simon & May were adopted from us a couple weeks ago and their adopter told us they are doing great! They are slowly adjusting to other cat and dog in the house. They are still happily enjoying their personal bedroom while they settle in....spoiled as they should be! 😜

We love it! Thanks for the cute update and darling photos!!

We have a very sad senior who is in need of a home πŸ™

Nigel was surrendered to us a couple months ago after his guardian passed away. Even though he's been here for over 9 weeks, he is very shy and shut down. He stays under his bench with his brother (Sher Khan), pretty much all the time 😞

Even though he won't come out of hiding, he does seem to enjoy when you sit on the ground and speak softly to him. He will even allow soft head scratches and cheek rubs.

Nigel is 14 years old and we just hate to see him like this. He could really use a second chance in a home with a cat savvy family who will give him time and space to find himself again. It would be great if him and Sher Khan could go to the same home since they've been together so long, but we know that may be a tough ask.

Nigel is ready and waiting to find a place to spend his golden years. If you're interested in giving him (and maybe his brother) a home, please call us and set up an appointment to meet them πŸ™ 928-282-4679

Good morning and Happy Flag Day from our sweet boy, Squeaky! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

He’s been dressing his best lately in hopes his snazzy look will help catch the eye of a family.

Squeaky is our longest resident here and we are really a little baffled by that. His only hang up is that he needs to be an only pet - other than that, he is the funniest, happiest, most affectionate dog around. He’s even done great with (older) kids!

He brings great joy to all of us here at the shelter and we just know he would bring so much love, laughs, and happiness into a home. Squeaky is just a wonderful companion who has been overlooked.

Can you send Squeaky a little love? He sure needs it. Tell him how handsome he is and that his family is out there somewhere ❀️
