A great day with great partners.

On May 15, our own Morgan and Brandon, along with Service Dog in training Kato, joined Wendy from BTC Bank and the KDRO/Power 97 Radio team for BTC Bank's Customer Appreciation Day. It was a chance to connect with the community, talk about our mission, and let Kato charm everyone who stopped by.

BTC Bank is a loyal Business Alliance member of Retrieving Freedom, and their continued support is part of what allows us to keep training and placing Service Dogs with Veterans with disabilities and children with autism. Days like this are a reminder that mission impact is built on real partnerships, real people, and real community.

Thank you, BTC Bank, for showing up for us, and for the Veterans and children we serve. Interested in becoming a Business Alliance partner? https://ow.ly/ArMl50Z6qY4

Seven cents at a time, our community has been quietly funding Service Dogs all month long.

May is Military Appreciation Month, and we want to spotlight one of the easiest ways to support Veterans with disabilities year-round. The BTC Bank Retrieving Freedom debit card.

Every time you swipe it, BTC Bank donates seven cents to Retrieving Freedom. Coffee runs, grocery trips, gas station stops. Each one becomes a small contribution to training and placing Service Dogs with the Veterans who need them most.

It costs you nothing. It happens automatically. And last year alone, those seven-cent swipes added up to nearly $20,000 for our mission.

As Military Appreciation Month comes to a close, this is one way to keep showing up for Veterans well beyond May. Learn more: https://ow.ly/kbfk50Z0ejo

Not every dog who comes through our program becomes a Service Dog, and that does not make their story any less meaningful.

Some of our Release Dogs go on to become beloved family pets. Some become certified therapy dogs. Some find their place as the perfect companion for someone who needed exactly them.

If you have been thinking about adding a dog to your family, our Release Dogs program might be the right fit. These are dogs who have already had a head start on training, socialization, and love, and they are ready for the right home.

Today, we remember.

Memorial Day is for the service members who gave everything, and for the families who carry their absence forward every day after.

At Retrieving Freedom, our work is shaped by that sacrifice. Every Service Dog we place with a Veteran is a small way of honoring the ones who served alongside them, and a promise that those who came home will not be forgotten either.

We are honored to do this work. We are humbled by the Veterans who trust us with it. And today, we pause to remember the ones who are no longer with us.

Three chapters. One mission.

This month, three Delta Waterfowl Foundation chapters showed up for our Veterans and our future Service Dogs in a big way:
- Jim River Marsh Masters Chapter: $2,237.50
- Cupped N' Committed Chapter: $1,450
- Full Limits Chapter: $1,687.50

Combined, that is more than $5,000 going directly into training and placing Service Dogs with the people who need them most.

Thank you to every Delta Waterfowl member who made these gifts possible. You are part of the reason we get to keep doing this work.

Some of our best training happens with college students in the room.

This month, our partners at the University of Missouri Service Dog Club held their bi-yearly class at our Missouri facility, working hands-on with our dogs and learning the foundations of Service Dog training.

We also brought the Stephens College and MU ROTC Impact Programs together for a combined session in Sedalia, giving students from both programs the chance to learn alongside one another.

These students are an essential part of how our dogs grow, learn, and prepare for the work ahead. They are also part of the next generation of advocates for what Service Dogs can do.

Amazon opened their new Sedalia facility on April 9, and they marked the day with a $10,000 gift to Retrieving Freedom.

We were honored to be part of the celebration alongside Governor Mike Kehoe, Mayor Andrew Dawson, and members of our team. Client Services Coordinator LaKisha Williams-Eckhoff shared the impact of our programs, and board member Kyle Herrick, Foster Coordinator Ashlyn Snyder, and Service Dog in training Idexx all joined in.

When a company chooses to anchor its welcome to a new community in support for Veterans and children with autism, that says something. Thank you, Amazon, for choosing us.

One volunteer. Two coasts. Three puppies.

This month, Tim flew to California to pick up Blu and Rico from Guide Dogs of America, then turned right around and drove to Michigan to bring home Flint. All three are now settling in with their puppy raisers and starting their journeys with us.

This is what behind-the-scenes looks like at Retrieving Freedom. Volunteers who show up, log the miles, and make sure the next generation of Service Dogs gets where they need to go.

Thank you, Tim. We could not do this without you.

If transporting puppies sounds like the kind of help you want to give, reach out to Bobbi at [email protected].
