Today, we honor the ones who came home with a piece of the fight still with them.

Purple Heart Day recognizes the Veterans and service members who were wounded or killed in combat. Some of those wounds you can see. Some you cannot. And for the ones who came home carrying either, the road forward is not always easy.

At Retrieving Freedom, we are honored to walk part of that road with them. Every Service Dog we place with a Veteran is a small way of saying thank you, and a promise that the ones who served will not be forgotten.
To every Purple Heart recipient and every family who loves one, thank you. Today and every day.

Weโ€™re incredibly grateful to Mi-T-M Corporation for inviting us to speak with their team about the life-changing work happening at Retrieving Freedom.

Hearing Kevin share his journey alongside his Service Dog was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do every day.

Thank you, Mi-T-M for your generosity, hospitality, and commitment to supporting our mission. Partnerships like yours help us continue providing highly trained Service Dogs to Veterans and children. ๐Ÿพ

The first 16 months of a Service Dog's life shape everything that comes after.

We are hiring a Foster Coordinator at our Sedalia, Missouri facility. This is the person who guides our volunteer puppy raisers, teaches classes, builds training plans, and helps every Service Dog in Training take its first steps toward a life of purpose.

If you know early canine behavior, believe in positive training methods, and want your work to matter long after the workday ends, we would love to hear from you.

Full time, 40 hours per week
$21 to $22 per hour
Medical, dental, and vision coverage, matching retirement plan, cell phone stipend, paid vacation and holidays
Sedalia, Missouri

The puppies you help raise today become the Service Dogs that change a Veteran's or a child's life tomorrow.

Transition day at Putnamville Correctional Facility. Every four to six months, a group of Service Dogs in Training completes their time with the team and moves on to the next stage of their training. Bittersweet does not begin to cover it. Thank you to everyone at Putnamville for the hours, patience, and heart you pour into these dogs. The Veterans with disabilities and children with autism waiting for them will feel the difference.

Our Retrieving Freedom team at Putnamville Correctional Facility just finished a dog swap, and itโ€™s always a bittersweet moment. Each dog spends about 4โ€“6 months with us, working through an important part of their training before becoming service dogs for veterans or children with autism.

Weโ€™re sad to see them go, but incredibly proud of everything theyโ€™ve accomplished. These amazing dogs are headed toward lives filled with purpose, companionship, and service and weโ€™re grateful to play a small part in their journey.

You get the coin. Then you pick who gets it next.

Our Retrieving Freedom Challenge Coin is more than a keepsake. It is a call to action, inspired by a long-standing tradition of honor among military, first responders, and the people who stand behind them. Every coin represents a commitment to the Veterans and children we serve, and every coin passed to a new hand grows our community of monthly donors who make this mission possible.

Carry it. Then challenge someone else to carry it too. That is how the mission moves forward.

Kids under 12: your dream volunteer job just opened up in Sedalia.

Some of our Service Dogs in training are preparing for potential placement with children, which means they need practice maintaining good manners and performing their tasks around kids. That only happens when kids are in the room.

If you have a child under the age of 12 who would love to spend time with our trainers and these advanced training dogs at our Sedalia facility, we would love to hear from you. Every visit helps a dog get one step closer to changing a child's life.
