Sometimes the views at Pine Cliff Ranch just don’t feel real. 🤎⛰️🐂

(UPDATE (12:15 pm) We just spoke with officials from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office who are actively working the Penley Fire, and they shared that they are feeling very good about the progress that has been made. There are currently two helicopters assisting with containment and fire suppression efforts, and officials are confident that the area where the Pine Cliff Ranch structures and horses are located is not under threat at this time.

With this encouraging update, boarders who chose to evacuate their horses are welcome to return to the ranch.)

As of last night, Pine Cliff Ranch Horse Boarding was under an evacuation that transitioned into a hold while we awaited further updates from emergency officials. We are grateful to share that, according to the Sheriff’s Office, the fire is now 50% contained, though it remains active.

At this time, the Pine Cliff Ranch structures remain just outside of the evacuation warning area. However, a large portion of the ranch property is still within the evacuation warning zone, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely and follow all guidance from emergency personnel.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to our incredible neighbors, boarders, friends, and everyone who reached out to check on us or offered their support. The kindness, quick response, and willingness to help during an uncertain time has meant so much to our ranch family.

Most importantly, thank you to the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and all first responders who continue working tirelessly to protect our community. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication and service.

We have included the latest update from the Sheriff’s Office below for anyone looking for the most current official information. Thank you all for your continued support.

For those who may not know, branding is a long-standing ranching tradition used to identify cattle and help keep track of ownership.

Our crew works hard to make the process as quick, safe, and low-stress as possible. While it may look intense to people unfamiliar with ranch life, these practices are an important part of responsible cattle care and ranch management.

It is a lot of hard work, teamwork, dust, laughs, and good memories packed into one day, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Please stay informed and practice extra caution with your horses. ⬇️

🚨 EHV-1/EHM UPDATE for Colorado Horse Owners 🚨

We now have our first confirmed EHV-1 case (that has mutated into EHM) in Colorado according to the Colorado Department of Agriculture . As of 11/20, a horse in Larimer County has tested positive and the premises is officially under quarantine to prevent further spread. As of 11/21, that case mutated into the neurologic version, EHM.

If you or your horses recently traveled to Texas, Oklahoma, or any major equine events, please take this seriously. Isolation, temperature checks, and strict biosecurity are strongly recommended by the Colorado State Veterinarian.

This is a rapidly developing situation, and staying informed is essential.
