Humane Society of Highlands County The Humane Society of Highlands County, FL., a no-kill for space, 501c3 animal shelter that operates by donation. The Humane Society operates 100% by donation.

We accept unwanted, hurt, and homeless pets, as long as space is available. We provide all aspects of care until a permanent home is found. We are a no-kill for space shelter. We often take in the sick, hurt, unwanted, abused and lonely. We are the last chance for our animals to find loving homes. We comfort them, we heal their wounds, we listen to their cries and we cry with them. . They soon learn we are their family until the day a new family sees the wonderful animal they are. We then shed tears of joy as we watch them walk out the door. We pray that their new family will love and care for them. We then wait for the next animal to fill their kennel, and cycle starts over. Every Monday we offer low cost vaccinations, heartworm, feline leukemia testing, deworming, no appointment needed. Appointments for spay/neuter can be made by calling 863-655-1522. Our Affordable Pet Care Clinic offers quality affordable veterinary care to the public. We are accepting new clients. Our clinic is by appointment every Tues. - Sat. Call 863-655-1522 to schedule an appointment.

Thank you so much to our staff Autumn, Brie, and Jess for constantly trying to find our runway. Then there’s Teri Dosil who set a trap and with her diligence on tracking him, finally trapping this guy that has been in flight mode for over 3 weeks!!!! He is now decompressing at her sanctuary home. He will stay with her and her husband Jose to give him the extra love and attention until he learns we are his friends. Thank you everyone that lives in this area to keep a watch for him. When he is ready, he will be available for adoption
