These initiatives enhance the well-being of both animals and people, ensuring pets can stay with their families during tough times, and fostering a compassionate and inclusive community."

If you would like to start the adoption our process is below:

Just a reminder - as it states on every animal's bio - all animals are located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. If you live 8 hours away, then you must be prepared to drive 8 hours here and then 8 hours back. This is your choice to make BEFORE completing the adoption application. Please note the rescue is run by a volunteer and is very busy. Do NOT constantly email or phone, if you need to email or call, please send just one communication and wait for someone to respond. Please ensure you have read all the information on the dog in the bio and that you understand all dogs are located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine where, if approved you are required to travel to meet the dog. Submit Application with two personal references and a vet reference. If you have never had pets and do not have a vet, we will need THREE personal references. Ensure references are people who know you and your lifestyle well. Applicant MUST inform vet and references that someone from GaDaH will be calling. As long as we are able to contact your vet and references, it takes just 1-3 days to process and hopefully approve applications. If you rent we will need an approval letter for the breed of dog you are wanting to adopt from your landlord on official letterhead paper or email. This means a letter or email, not copy of your lease! Rescue processes and hopefully approves applications. Once approved, rescue invites applicant to come to the rescue to meet your chosen dog/s, spend time with him/her and then hopefully take him/her home. We do NOT hold dogs so if you are unable to come within a week or so of submitting your application the dog will still be available for adoption to other families. For Canadian adopters, all that is needed to get them across the border into Canada is a current rabies certificate and proof of adoption, which is the adoption contract. Both of which are included in the medical file you will get when you adopt. (https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel/by-country/pettravel-canada)

Ensure ALL Fields are filled in, if something is relevant, then put n/a or something in so it recognizes an entry. We do not recommend using a phone or iPad since these applications for some reason don't tend to come through and you will have spent a lot of time on the application for nothing as it will need to be re-done. Once we have you approved, we can schedule an appointment for you to come to meet him/her at the rescue in Sebec, Mane and then hopefully take them home to start your new life. I just have to work on an appointment basis. Please understand I run a dog rescue with a lot of dogs, this means I am not sat around waiting for the phone to ring, or able to drop everything and answer phone calls. These beautiful 4 month old pupsters have completed their quarantine period, which is required by the State of Maine for pups under 6 months, just to be sure that they didn't get sick on transport or catch any bugs.

If anyone is interested in ADOPTING or FOSTERING please reach out, would love to get these beauties in a home ASAP so that they can start learning family life, going on adventures and of course that all so very important basic training and socializing to different places.

They are all so affectionate, adorable, smart, high energy and full of love to share.

No applications, emails or anything came in for this sweet pair - I let myself get my hopes up for nothing :-(

For two vetted sweet midgets, Leslie having most likely the most expensive senior dog deal done, by her dental extractions and teeth clean, sweet little Edgar neutered and a happy 5 years old. :-(

Rescue is so hard having to trust that people will stick to their commitments or if it isn't working then to do the right thing and make the effort to find the perfect home for the pets that adore and worship you - not just dump them or put the problem on to someone else.

I am feeling disheartened for these two precious souls.

Precious midgets LESLIE and EDGAR have had ZERO interest from anyone with a heart big enough to want to keep them together. Plenty of people are happy to adopt one of them, which in one sense is responsible, as it is wrong to adopt if you cannot afford to care for both dogs.....

BUT since LESLIE has just had 13 teeth extracted and a full dental clean and EDGAR has been neutered, although we do recommend another blood / chemistry panel run in a few months as the one we had done, was all over the place, which is to be expected after all he had just endured, living scared, alone and doing all he could do to survive at just 7 pounds, tick infested and below 0 degree temperatures on some nights.

LESLIE was adopted from GaDaH back in 2017 and we presume EDGAR was bought as a puppy in 2021 and they have lived together ever since. After being given away or dumped - who knows, but they ended up running loose with the family not wanting them. Leslie was caught as she was friendly, poor sweet Edgar, scared was left without any reports of him being a lost dog . . . . until we found out about it.

Reunited after several weeks and now a few weeks of being back together and it is proving hard to find their TRUE forever family.

If interested, more pictures and video's can be found on the rescue page and their basic information can be found on the rescue website along with the link to the adoption application.

Submitted applications are processed within 24-48 hours and if approved families are invited to schedule an appointment to come and meet them and hopefully take them home to live the life that they both deserve.

They are leash trained, house trained, ride great in the car, wary of people initially, but then become ultimate love bugs, enjoy walks and adventures, but also snuggling and sharing in the love and cuddles. Leslie is 10 going on 5, she LOVES to chase and play with toys, Edgar is 5 and just wants to snuggle and feel safe, secure and loved.

Is there a family out there for these beauties.

Just under 2 weeks before transport was due to bring the 7 siblings up from the Texas Hoarding case, the animal control officer reached out asking if I could help with these 6 smaller puppies.

Their mum, SWEETIE a border collie had been saved from the large Texas Hoarding case where the American Humane Society had been called in to help, due to the extent of the situation.

When she was being checked out by the veterinary staff, it was deemed she would need a leg amputation due to injury and infection and that she was also pregnant.

Thankfully she was able to have her puppies safely in a clean controlled environment and they all survived, happy, healthy and of course full of puppy energy and love.

I had asked about taking Sweetie, since I am not a rescue that takes the pups and leaves the mum's behind, you would be surprised and saddened at how many rescue's and shelters actually do that - but the wonderful news is that her foster family couldn't bare to give her up and so she will be living the best life with them.

The 3 boys and 3 girls arrived happy and healthy and are doing great. The transport ladies told me they were told that BEAU is deaf and that does appear to be the case, so we will be looking to adopt him only to a family with experience with deaf dogs and a companion for him.

The pups were born on 31 March 2026, making them 2 months old. It is very important that young pups get plenty of socialization with other dogs and so we are going to be keeping these here until they are 3 months, unless a family has another dog, or is interested in adopting two.

As with the litter of 7, I cannot say how they are around cats, goats, chickens, livestock or anything else. The same with children, there is no reason than them being fearful or hurt for them to not be great with kids other than the typical puppy jumping, mouthing and those very sharp teeth.

We are ONLY looking for families that are already active, that have the time, patience, understanding of what the breed mix of Border Collie / German Shepherd Dog needs. That are financially stable and aware of the importance of feeding high quality food and treats, monthly preventatives, annual wellness checks and all those other responsibilities and finances that involves being an amazing pet parent.

We are NOT looking for foster families for this litter of pups at this time.

Their basic information can be found on the rescue website along with the adoption application. Interested families, if fitting the criteria can complete and submit an application, which will be processed within 24-48 hours and if approved a meet and greet scheduled.

There are lots of photo's on the rescue page, I just don't have the time right now to go through and upload to individual pups pages.

These seven siblings, two boys and five girls, with an estimated date of birth of 2 February 2026 were saved from a large hoarding case in Northern Texas.

Give a Dog a Home Rescue was asked if we could help out and they arrived last Thursday all happy, healthy and full of energy.

They are presumed German Shepherd/Border Collie Mixes with an estimated date of birth of 2 February 2026, putting them a few days short of 4 months and they weigh between around 25-30 pounds.

They are all fully vetted, great with other dogs, but typical puppies in that they have a lot to learn. I was told they are leash trained but do not know for sure.

We are looking for their forever homes and families and will also consider EXPERIENCED foster families who have the time, experience and lifestyle for one of two of these pups.

We are only looking for families who can give the dogs what THEY need to live a great, happy, healthy lifestyle, including good quality food and treats, monthly preventatives, annual vet visits and an already active life - experience has taught us that when people get dogs "to get them out and healthy" that generally works the same as the January New Year Gym memberships.

The application link is on the rescue website along with basic information, there are lots of photos on the rescue page and basic puppy experience and the breed mix should tell you all you need to know about how they are.

I do not know how they are with cats, goats, sheep, livestock, or if they like going in a lake or the sea. They have not been around children, but unless a child hurts or scares them there is absolutely no reason for them not to be great with kids, other than the typical jumping up, mouthing and puppy play.

If interested please complete and submit the Adoption Application and it will be processed in 24-48 hours of receiving. We do not hold dogs, so only submit an application if you have the lifestyle, the means, the time, the experience and are ready to adopt now.

Information on our adoption process in on the application page.
