Pacific Northwest Equine Protection Society The Pacific Northwest Equine Protection Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome at-risk horses.

Each year, approximately 150,000 horses in this country are exported to Canada or Mexico to be horrifically slaughtered for human consumption. Horses are now the most exported animal in the U.S. The Pacific Northwest Equine Protection Society is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to facilitate the welfare of at-risk equines through rescue, public education, and husbandry. Ou

r organization seeks to improve the lives of horses by providing permanent homes for unwanted, abused, and neglected horses. We partner with local, regional, and national organizations – including state agencies and tribal nations – to promote the welfare of unwanted or neglected horses.

Sadly later this year pictured, Lindsey Wonder Rhodes moved Moon to an undisclosed location without informing us, or anyone else involved in her rescue. She allegedly starved her, keeping her in the hot sun without food, shelter, and sometimes without water, until the sheriff was finally contacted by multiple people concerned. Moon and another horse were seized by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Department, she had a body score of 1 at that time. Sadly she was unable to recover and passed away of sepsis shortly after being rescued. We are beyond heartbroken to find this out and the horrific suffering she endured, worse than when she was rescued, starving to begin with, is unimaginable. There is currently an open investigation against Lindsey Wonder Rhodes for animal cruelty in the first degree. We hope justice is served.

Our hearts are broken 💔. Rest In Peace Moon, it is comforting to know you are not suffering anymore galloping in the green pastures in heaven above. ❤️

All tucked in for the night. This girl is doing so great. Still on antibiotics until Sunday, but she is eating so well and gaining weight. I can tell she knows she is safe and loved. ❤️
