The Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS) is calling on Seattleites to help answer one of the city’s most pressing and delightful questions: Who is Seattle’s cutest pet?

Every pet owner believes their animal is the cutest, and now SAS is giving the community a chance to prove it through Picture Pawfect, a citywide photo fundraising contest. The contest gives pet owners a chance to showcase their furry friend citywide, while also directly supporting the shelter’s ability to care for thousands of pets annually and provide free and low-cost services that support Seattle’s pet owners.

We love sharing the heartwarming parts of our work, but sometimes we have to share the hard ones, too, and this is one of them.

Seattle Animal Control is asking for the community’s help identifying a person connected to an animal cruelty case currently under investigation. Our friends at Pasado's Safe Haven are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to a suspect’s arrest and prosecution.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, Seattle City Hall becomes Kitty Hall — your chance to meet and adopt adorable kittens and cats from the Seattle Animal Shelter. Swing by the Bertha Knight Landes Room from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. to visit adoptable kittens, learn about pet resources, snap a photo in the Kitty Cam Booth, and vote for the next “Kitty Council Purr-sident!”

Grew up watching Finding Nemo? Ever dreamed of owning your own Nemo (minus the orange and white strips)?

Nemo was adopted from Seattle Animal Shelter as a young puppy and spent his first six months with a wonderful family who adored him. Unfortunately, life circumstances changed, and through no fault of his own, they could no longer keep him. Their greatest hope is that this sweet boy finds another family to love him just as much.

His former family gave him a fantastic start in life. Nemo attended puppy classes, is crate trained, knows several basic cues, and has all the makings of a wonderful lifelong companion. Like any adolescent pup, he’s still learning and would benefit from continued training and consistency -especially with skills like staying focused on a “stay” cue - but he’s eager to learn and ready to grow with his new family.
