Happy National Rescue Dog Day!

We’re going to be real with you, because these dogs deserve nothing less than the absolute truth.

Right now, Doberman Rescue is exhausted. We are being flooded with surrenders, shelter pulls, and abandoned Dobermans who have nowhere else to go. At the exact same time, donations are down, dedicated fosters are scarce, and the sheer volume of intake is pushed to the absolute brink.

We are burnt out, running on fumes, and struggling just to keep the lights on.
And yet, here we are. Because when we look into the eyes of a confused, discarded Doberman, we don't know how to quit on them. We refuse to quit on them.

We know that welcoming a rescue dog into your life is a massive commitment. It takes patience, time, and often, significant lifestyle changes. They aren’t always a "plug-and-play" pet. But these noble, loyal, sensitive dogs just need someone to give them a chance to thrive. They need a safe place to land while they figure out that the world isn't a scary place anymore.

The heartbreaking reality is simple: We cannot keep saving them without you.
If you have ever thought about opening your heart, your couch, or your yard to a Doberman in need, the time is right now. We desperately need dedicated fosters who can provide a temporary safe haven, and loving adopters ready for a lifelong partner.
Please, head to our website and complete an application today.

Please consider putting in an application to adopt or foster!

We will never stop showing up for them. But we simply cannot do it alone. 💔🐾

UPDATE: Pending adoption!
Gambit
Gambit spent time wandering Northern California as a stray, but don't let that "roughing it" past fool you—he is a total gentleman at heart. At approximately 3 years young, he is a classic Doberman who has absolutely no concept of personal space. If there is a lap available, he’s in it, and if there’s a face nearby, he’s ready to lean in for some love.
While he is still working on "refined" house manners, Gambit is incredibly food-motivated and genuinely loves to train. With a little guidance and a predictable routine, he has all the potential to be the best companion imaginable.
The Lowdown on Gambit:
Social Butterfly: He enjoys dogs of all sizes and would thrive with a playful buddy who can match his energy.
Farm-Friendly: Having met cats, turkeys, and other farm animals, Gambit remains totally unbothered and tends to just ignore them.
Kid-Approved: He has met children and showered them with plenty of affection.
The Perfect Student: Smart and eager to please, Gambit is ready to learn for anyone with the patience to teach him.
He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Gambit is looking for a stable, loving home where he can finally settle down and be part of the family. In exchange, he promises to be a loyal companion full of "Doberman leans" and goofy smiles.
He is currently in a foster home in Olympia, WA, and looking for a forever home to adopt him.

Adopted!

We've had zero inquiries on the amazingly beautiful girl!

Meet Ripley in the Portland, OR area.
Ripley is a 4 year old, 70 pound, all natural beauty. She is a total cuddle bug who loves nothing more than snuggling under blankets with her person. Physical touch is her love language — she will happily soak up all the pets and affection you can give!
She’s incredibly healthy and has never had any medical issues (not even an upset tummy!). Ripley is also extremely fast and agile. She would absolutely thrive with someone who can invest in professional training — she would excel in agility courses!
Ripley is wonderful with other dogs and strangers when she’s off-leash.She gets along wonderfully with her foster sister. She loves playing at off-leash dog parks and shows her fun, social personality there.
Her biggest challenge is leash reactivity. While on leash, she can lunge and bark, especially at things on wheels like bicycles, strollers, and wheelchairs. Because of this, she would do best in a home with a yard where she can run and play freely, since leash walks are currently very stressful for her.
She hasn’t been around cats, but with proper introductions and familiarization, I believe she could coexist peacefully with other pets.
Ripley is truly a gem. She needs someone who has plenty of time for her, loves to cuddle, and is committed to helping her grow into her best self. In return, she’ll give you endless affection and loyalty.
If you’re looking for a loving, snuggly, athletic best friend — Ripley might be your girl ❤️ Ripley is spayed, microchipped and UTD on all vaccines.
Ripley is being rehomed due to no fault of her own. She is currently with a foster in St. Hillsboro, Oregon.

Our friends at the Doberman Pinscher Health Foundation (501(c)(3)) are hosting a Springtime Virtual 5K Walk/Run, and it’s open to all breeds and mixes.

DPHF funds critical research into the diseases that impact our Dobermans and so many other dogs — including Cardiomyopathy, Cancer, Bloat, and Liver Disease. Their work directly supports healthier, longer lives for the dogs we love.

We’re sharing their flyer for anyone in our rescue community who would like to participate or support their mission.

This sweet boy needs a foster while his human serves his country on deployment..

Can you help? If you are interested in providing a safe, loving foster home, please complete a foster application with Operstion Foster at: https://pactforanimals.org/be-a-foster/

Needs a foster from Aprill 22, 2026 – September 15, 2026
Must be within 3 hours from Tacoma, WA

Oberon, a 4-year-old. 45 pound, Doberman mix who is looking for a temporary place to call home while his human serves in the military. Oberon is the definition of a "Velcro dog"—he doesn't just want to be in the same room as you; he wants to be right by your side, preferably tucked under a mountain of blankets.
Oberon is a sensitive soul who shows his love by rubbing his face against yours and snuggling deep into the couch. While he can be a bit skittish with loud noises or new faces, his "nervous tail" quickly turns into a wag once he knows he’s safe. He’s been working hard on his confidence and his appetite, and he’s almost at his goal weight!
Oberon’s Wishlist:
The Snuggle Factor: A couch with plenty of blankets is a must.
A Calm Environment: He’d love a home without too much hustle and bustle.
A Yard (The Dream!): While he’s a great apartment citizen, he lives for "zoomies" in a fenced yard.
The Social Dynamic: He’d thrive as an only dog or with a calm, low-energy canine sibling.

This is a courtesy post for Operstion Foster. This is not an SPDR dog.

UPDATE: PENDING ADOPTION
Meet Popeye: The Loyal Gentleman 🐾
Are you looking for a sophisticated, well-mannered companion? Meet handsome 7-year-old Popeye. At a fit 80 pounds, he is the perfect blend of a majestic guardian and a total sweetheart. He is fully housebroken, knows a library of commands, and is an absolute dream on a leash. He is a social butterfly! He gets along great with other dogs at the park and currently shares his home with a cat. He has not lived with another dog. So careful intros are recommended. He is wonderful with children of all ages, making him an ideal addition to a family. He is totally gentle, but is very protective of his home and will bark at strangers outside. Although he seems scary, he melts once he meets you.
Due to a change in his current owner’s living situation, they are no longer able to give him the time and dedication he deserves. This is a heartbreaking decision, and we are committed to finding him a home where he can be the center of attention again.
He will be available for adoption after he’s neutered, however is available for meet and greets now.
Currently being fostered in Portland.
