THIS is a healthy relationship in action between dog & owner 🐶👨

It’s not magic that this happens. My dog isn’t hyper responsive to me because I’m special 😅🙅‍♀️

This is a result of understanding how to exist with dogs and strategically positioning myself as a worthy leader who my dog wants to constantly pay attention to and engage with 💚💪

Knowing these warning signs could save your dog’s life 💯🙏

Keeping your dog safe & cool is NOT as simple as dog hot = dog drink water ❌🙅‍♀️

The closer you are to overheating the bigger the mistake it is to have your dog drink water. They aren’t thirsty, they are overheated and need to cool off 🙌🐩

To add to this you should NOT fully submerge your dog in water if they are in the last stage approaching heat stroke ❌🙅‍♀️

This is not safe at that point and you need to strategically use water to cool them off by applying some to their belly, arm/leg pits, and paws 👌🫡

NONE of this is medical advice ‼️ Talk to your veterinarian for a specific game plan to manage your dog in the heat 🔥🧯

This is how we actively condition the e-collar ‼️⚡️

Before active conditioning we are pre-conditioning, which means we build a positive association with the collar itself 🐕‍🦺 🙌

We don’t use it yet. The dog simply wears it during mealtime and when you have play sessions. Fun things happen when the e-collar comes out 🎉🥎

Then once we start applying stim with the e-collar we strategically introduce it at working levels discussed in this video so it isn’t overly stressful for the dog 💪🐶

There is a few weeks of work we put in with the e-collar before we ever use it in a significant way out in the world 🌎🐩

These steps are very important to ensure the dog understands what we are communicating and responds productively 💯👌

Wait for us to run into his 3 good friends 👯 🐩

Your boring walk can be SO MUCH MORE than just a walk 💯🙌

Teach your dog to walk on both sides and in between your legs. This gets them moving and more engaged with you. You’ll have more control when navigating busy areas 🏙️🫡

Stop to play at the park. Play should be a part of every outing with your dog 🥎🛝

Interact with the environment. Teach your dog to get on different objects and perform obedience or tricks out in the world. This stimulates them mentally 🧠😁

Get out of the living room and backyard. Switch up your same neighborhood walk. Go explore the world with your dog 🌎🐶

Training your dog to be off-leash will open a whole new world of freedom for them 🆓💫

I’m a dog training nerd so remember you don’t have to do everything I do off-leash. Just having enough control to ditch the leash for fetch in an open field will greatly improve your dog’s quality of life 💪🐶

DON’T try to e-collar train on your own ❌ Hire a trainer ✅

You need help problem-solving as you learn to use a powerful tool ‼️

The BIGGEST issue in e-collar training is maintaining contact with the dog’s skin 🐶⚠️

If you don’t have contact with the skin then you aren’t doing anything with the e-collar 🤷👎

I’ve never had a client arrive at the first e-collar session with it being strapped too tight. It’s always the opposite 😅🤷

A trainer can help you trust that your e-collar is fitted correctly and your dog is okay 👌 🐩

Dog body language never lies. If your dog is being choked out then there will be clear signs of discomfort 💯

Many dogs will be a little uncomfortable when you put on a new collar in the house so get outside and start moving. If your dog adjusts then you can trust that the collar is not too tight 🫡

Think about how children feel when a parent is putting on all their winter clothes in the house. Not fun until you get outside to play and forget all about it ☃️❄️
