Sometimes things just work out…. Sat in a cove for 5 hours last night. Watching 4 black bears way up in the mountains. It’s a super late spring here in Valdez, and the bears haven’t been on the beaches really yet. We decided to call it around 10pm after the tide came back in and the boat was floating again😅 got to the mouth of the cove and turned around for one last look…. This guy was standing on the beach! Made a stalk but he was heading away and we repositioned and he came right at us. He was clicking his teeth and huffing at us… 55 yards! He’s not a monster by brown bear standards, but I’ve never considered myself a trophy hunter. Trophy’s are whatever you want them to be. The hair on this bear is immaculate! Not a single rub! I wasn’t about to pass it up! Plus I still have a black bear tag! If they ever come off the mountain….😅. These pics were taken at 10:30 pm last night. Got back to town about 2:30 am or so! Very fortunate to have a brother that I’m close with. And my entire family for that matter. We sure have done a lot together!
