rition or general care and handling for your horse? With over 40 years of working with horses and 35 years coaching/ teaching people about horses I have a passion to help my fellow equestrians reach their goals, whatever they may be, by giving them a better understanding of the horse by breaking down the pieces to achieve those goals into the simplest of steps. My desire is to help you not just understand technique but have a deep and clear understanding of "how and why". I want you to be able to use the approach of UN-puzzling in all areas of your horsemanship so that you can continue to learn and progress so that your journey moves from confused and frustrated to clear, fascinating and fun. Setting up an environment where your horse feels safe.

Lightness is the external physical cue. Softness is the internal connection of energy.

💡 HORSE TRAINING TIP: The Power of a 5-Minute Prep
Before you saddle up, ask yourself:
Is your horse mentally with you... or just physically standing there? 🤔🐴

You don’t need a long session to make a big difference. Just 5 intentional minutes of groundwork can completely shift the tone of your ride.

Here’s what to check:
✅ Can they yield their hindquarters softly?
✅ Will they walk off with feel and focus?
✅ Are they relaxed—or just obedient?

🔁 When we slow down and connect first, everything else gets easier: the transitions, the trail ride, the responsiveness.

✨ Try it this week: Take just 5 minutes before your ride to check in—physically, mentally, and emotionally. You might be surprised what your horse shows you.

👇 Let me know how it goes, or drop a question in the comments if you’re not sure what to look for. Let’s prep with purpose.

🎉 Celebrate Progress and Learn Along the Way!

Dana loaded her horse into her brand-new trailer calmly and confidently—a HUGE milestone after past struggles. 🙌💪

And Angela had an honest, courageous realization: “I didn’t prepare my horse for success—it wasn’t her, it was me.” 🧠💖

These stories from our Elevate Q&A are reminders that:
👉 Progress is possible when we focus on groundwork and connection.
👉 Preparation is everything.
👉 Our horses are always giving us feedback—we just have to learn to listen.

💬 What’s one recent moment when your horse taught you something big (or small)? Share it below—we’d love to cheer you on!

🐴 Is Your Horse Just Being Stubborn… or Is It Fear? 🤔

Let’s talk about how fear can show up in your horse’s feet.

We all know what fear looks like when a horse takes off. But what about when they just… won’t go?
🚫 They stop suddenly.
🪵 They feel like they’re stuck in the mud.
🔙 They back away instead of bolting.

These can be signs your horse isn’t being difficult—they might be uncertain or overwhelmed.

👣 Their feet are giving you clues. Are you listening?

👇 Drop a comment: What’s something your horse’s feet have “said” to you lately?
