Our pets have a way of becoming part of who we are. 🤍🐾

They’re there for ordinary mornings, difficult days, big milestones, and countless little moments we don’t realize will become some of our favorite memories. And when it’s time to say goodbye, the impact they made on our lives doesn’t disappear.

On Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we’re thinking of every family who has had to say goodbye to a beloved companion. 🌈 Whether the loss was recent or many years ago, there’s no timeline for missing them or remembering the life you shared.

If you feel comfortable, share your pet’s name, a photo, or a favorite memory in the comments so we can remember them with you. 🕊️❤️

The Fourth of July is almost here! 🇺🇸🐾

While we look forward to celebrating with family, friends, BBQs, and fireworks, the holiday can be overwhelming for our pets. Loud noises, hot temperatures, and unfamiliar foods can quickly turn a fun day into a stressful one.

Please note that Arizona Animal Hospital will be closed on Saturday, July 4th in observance of the holiday.
To help keep your furry family members safe this weekend, here are a few simple reminders:
🎆 Keep pets indoors during fireworks and provide a quiet, secure space where they feel safe.💊 If your pet struggles with fireworks anxiety, don’t wait until the last minute—talk with your veterinarian ahead of time about medications or calming options.🍔 Keep BBQ foods, cooked bones, alcohol, chocolate, grapes, onions, xylitol, and other toxic foods safely out of reach.☀️ Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade, and never leave them in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes.🏷️ Double-check that your pet’s ID tags and microchip information are current. More pets go missing around the Fourth of July than almost any other holiday.
If your pet experiences an emergency while we are closed, please refer to the 24/7 emergency veterinary hospitals listed in this post.
We hope you, your family, and your four-legged companions have a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July. Thank you to all who have served our country, and thank you for trusting Arizona Animal Hospital with your pets’ care. ❤️🤍💙

The numbers don’t lie — and they remind us just how important preventative care truly is. 🩺🐾

Many heartworm and tick-borne diseases can develop quietly, with pets showing little to no symptoms in the early stages. That’s why annual testing is such an important part of your pet’s routine healthcare. Early detection allows us to identify problems sooner, begin treatment earlier, and help improve long-term outcomes for the pets we love most. ❤️

At Arizona Animal Hospital, we strongly recommend yearly screening for diseases like heartworm, Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis as part of your pet’s annual exam. Even pets who appear perfectly healthy can test positive, which is why routine testing and prevention are so important.

The good news? Testing is quick, simple, and gives us valuable information about your pet’s overall health and wellbeing. Preventative care helps us stay one step ahead and gives pet parents added peace of mind knowing they’re doing everything they can to protect their furry family members. ☀️🐶🐱

If you have questions about your pet’s annual testing or preventative care plan, our team is always happy to help!

PSA for pet parents this summer: hot pavement burns paws FAST. 🔥🐾

With Arizona temperatures rising and summer quickly approaching, pets can become at serious risk for heatstroke, dehydration, and burned paw pads in just minutes. ☀️

Please watch closely for signs such as:
🐾 Heavy panting
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Weakness or collapse
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea

Simple precautions like early morning walks, plenty of fresh water, shaded breaks, and avoiding hot pavement can make a huge difference in keeping your pets safe this summer. ❤️

If you notice any signs of heatstroke, seek veterinary care immediately.

Your pets rely on you to help protect them during the Arizona heat. 🐶🐱
