Hey Loyal Followers - Nancy, the Transport Coordinator is out of pocket until October 24th. Your messages and applications WILL NOT be answered until the 24th.

We apologize for the inconvenience but with just a couple volunteers, it’s hard to backfill when one of us is unavailable.

Please know that we will definitely answer in the order received - including those of you that signed up at Monte’s Challenge!

Thank you for WANTING to fix your pets and the strays that show up. Y’all are awesome. 💕

Best day of my life because I took 12 kitties to North Alabama Spay Neuter Clinic to be FIXED! No more unwanted babies, heat cycles, carousing or fighting for these 12 lucky cats. Their amazing owners did the right thing and signed up with SNJCA for a free transport & inexpensive surgery. Say hello to Mama Cat, Marie, (who did not want her picture taken 😲) Rosco, Raven, Baby Girl, Trouble, Sadie, Opy, Mango, Millie, Sky and Leia. Leia is the sweet, beautiful dark gray cat with white markings - she needs a loving home. She is available from the Scottsboro Animal Shelter. Have a blessed day - Love, Nancy; SNJCA Transport Coordinator.

Thank you for the incredible response to our October 3 Community Pet Fix event. All available appointments are now filled.

We are so grateful for the overwhelming community response and for everyone working with us to make spay/neuter care more accessible.

NAMASTE DAY IS COMING TO NORTH ALABAMA! 🐾💕

What if we could prevent tomorrow’s unwanted litters today?

This October, Luna Farms Rescue is joining the Jason Heigl Foundation for Namaste Day 2026! A community spay and neuter event created to help families get their beloved pets fixed and prevent unintended litters before they happen. 🐶🐱💕

Our goal is BIG:

✨ Approximately 50 dogs and cats spayed or neutered in ONE day.

These aren’t shelter pets. They’re beloved family pets who will go right back home to the people who love them, just without the possibility of contributing to another unplanned litter.

And that matters.

Because every litter we prevent means fewer puppies and kittens entering an already overwhelmed shelter and rescue system.

That’s prevention. And prevention changes what happens tomorrow. 🐾

📅 Saturday, October 3, 2026
📍 Westside Veterinary Hospital

NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Please remember: Submitting an application does not guarantee an appointment. Selected participants will receive confirmation and additional instructions before the event.

And please SHARE! 📣

You may know someone who has been putting off spaying or neutering their pet because of cost, transportation, access, or simply not knowing where to begin.

Together, we can help families keep the pets they love and prevent unwanted litters from ever happening in the first place.

Prevention starts with one pet. One appointment. One family. And it can change what happens tomorrow. ❤️‍🩹

Stay tuned for more about Namaste Day, the incredible people making this event possible, and why prevention is such an important part of rescue. 🐶🐱

Thirteen is a lucky number, at least for 13 cats from Scottsboro and Jackson County that came with Nancy on transport to North Alabama Spay Neuter Clinic to be fixed! Meet Milo, Rose, Erin, Buck, Socks, Celeste, Solar, Stormy, Sweetie and Baby Girl. Bowie did NOT want his picture taken. Very happy that 13 cats will not be making babies ever again. Thank you to these amazing pet owners who got their cats spayed and neutered. 🥰

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you came to the Scottsboro Animal Shelter on Wednesday, August 19th to get a voucher to fix your pet(s) we just send out emails with a link to the transport application so we can send you a voucher or schedule your pet for transport. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL. We’ve had 5 returned for address not found - either we couldn’t read your writing or you gave us a bad email. We will try texting those that bounced back.

Also - it was brought to our attention that you CANNOT type in Monte’s Challenge for the date so use August 19th and we will know

Please be patient! 67 people signed up 128 pets! We are thankful so many will get fixed but it will take some time to complete.

Tuesday was dog transport day. Dogs have such unique personalities. Meadow was all cubby, wiggly lab puppy. Mac, a Blue Heeler Mix was interested in everything and super happy. Siblings, Pearl and Buddy were NOT happy with the whole situation. 🙁. But everyone was successfully spayed, neutered and got rabies vaccinated. Kudos to Meadow for getting microchipped! Always happy to know that we have helped keep animals from breeding - we are constantly being asked for help with litters of kittens and puppies. Sadly, there is no demand for either. 😢. Please fix any/all animals you feed or they WILL reproduce.
