🎉 Happy 13th Birthday to our favorite Sith Lord, Vader! 🎉

The dark side has officially been ruling the galaxy for 13 whole years, and somehow, Vader just keeps getting sweeter, cuter, and more spoiled!

At 13 years old, Vader still has plenty of personality and knows exactly how to get what he wants. From his love of food and toys to adventures outside and cozy cuddles in bed, this boy has mastered the art of being completely spoiled—and honestly, Mommy wouldn't have it any other way. 🥰🍖🧸

Whether he's playing with his Dad, keeping watch over the household, following Mommy around, or making sure everyone knows when it's time for another treat, Vader does everything with that classic Sith Lord confidence. He may have the title of Darth Vader, but to Mommy, he's simply her sweet baby boy who deserves all the love and spoiling in the galaxy.

And behind all the silly moments, treats, toys, and cuddles is a very special bond between Vader and his Mommy (Lina). 🥹💖 For 13 years, this sweet boy has brought so much happiness, laughter, comfort, and unconditional love into her life. He's been there for the good days, the busy days, the quiet days, and all of the little everyday moments that somehow become the memories you treasure most.

Lina may be getting a little emotional watching her baby turn 13, but she is also incredibly grateful for every single year, every cuddle, every belly rub, every adventure, every goofy moment, and every time Vader has made her smile. 💕 There truly is something so special about getting to grow alongside a dog who becomes such a huge part of your family and your heart.

Vader has always had a way of making himself known. He knows when it's time for dinner, when it's time for a treat, when it's time to play, and—most importantly—when it's time for Mommy to stop what she's doing and give him some cuddles. ️ And somehow, that sweet face makes it nearly impossible to say no.

From being Lina's handsome boy to being the most lovable, mischievous, food-loving little Sith Lord around, Vader has spent 13 years proving that sometimes the biggest personalities come in the cutest packages. 🥰🐶

So here's to Vader—13 wonderful years of love, cuddles, toys, treats, adventures, belly rubs, and ruling his little galaxy one adorable moment at a time. 🎂

🌟 Happy 13th Birthday, Vader! 🌟

May your treat bowl always be full, your toys always be nearby, your cuddles never end, and Mommy continue to spoil you like the little king you are.

Mommy loves you more than words could ever say, sweet boy. Here's to another trip around the galaxy with her favorite little Sith Lord! 💖

💧TIP TUESDAY! 💧

Fresh water is an important part of keeping our pets happy and healthy! 💦

It's easy to simply refill your pet's water bowl throughout the day, but the bowl itself needs some attention, too! Water bowls can collect saliva, food particles, dust, hair, and bacteria over time. Even when the water looks clean, the bowl can still benefit from a good cleaning.

Here are a few simple ways to keep your pet's water bowl fresh:

💧 Wash the bowl regularly with warm water and pet-safe dish soap.
🧼 Give it a good scrub instead of only rinsing and refilling.
🐾 Check for a slippery film or buildup on the bottom and sides of the bowl.
🚰 Refresh the water regularly so your pet always has access to clean, fresh water.
🍽️ Keep food and water bowls clean since food particles can easily make their way into the water.

And don't forget about automatic water fountains! They still need regular cleaning, including the bowl, pump, and filters, according to the manufacturer's instructions.

A clean bowl + fresh water = a happy hydration station!

TIP: If you notice your pet suddenly drinking much more or much less water than usual, that's something worth paying attention to and discussing with your veterinary team.

A few extra minutes of cleaning can help keep your pet's water fresh and inviting!

🐾 MYTH MONDAY! 🐾

MYTH: A dog’s nose should always be cold and wet, and if it’s warm or dry, something must be wrong.

FACT: A healthy dog can have a warm, dry, cold, or wet nose throughout the day!

This is one of those pet myths that has been around for a long time. While a cool, wet nose is certainly common in dogs, it isn't a reliable way to determine whether your pup is healthy.

A dog's nose can naturally change throughout the day for many different reasons.

☀️ Weather and temperature: Warm or dry weather can affect the nose.
😴 Sleeping: It's very common for a dog's nose to be drier after a nap or a good night's sleep.
💧 Hydration: How much your dog has been drinking can affect moisture levels.
🏃 Activity: Exercise, excitement, and normal daily activities can all cause changes.
👅 Licking: Dogs frequently lick their noses, which naturally keeps them moist.

So, if your dog wakes up from a nap with a warm, dry nose, there's usually no reason to panic!

Instead of using their nose as a health check, pay attention to changes in their overall behavior and habits. Is your dog eating normally? Drinking normally? Interested in their usual activities? Acting like themselves?

🚩 A dry nose by itself usually isn't a reason for concern, but other symptoms may be. If your pet has a persistent change in appetite or energy, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, difficulty breathing, unusual discharge, significant changes in drinking or urination, or simply isn't acting like themselves, it's a good idea to reach out to your veterinary team.

The takeaway: Don't judge your dog's health by their nose alone! A warm or dry nose doesn't automatically mean your pup is sick, just like a cold, wet nose doesn't guarantee that everything is perfect.

We know our pets can't tell us when something doesn't feel right, so knowing what is normal for your individual pet is one of the best things you can do for them.

Did you grow up hearing that a cold, wet nose means a healthy dog? Let us know in the comments!

Deaf Dog Awareness Week is Sep 20–26. 👂

Deaf dogs are amazing pets and often bond deeply with their people. A few things to know:

✔ They respond beautifully to hand signals and light cues
✔ Get their attention with a gentle floor-stomp (vibration) or a wave in peripheral vision
✔ Keep them leashed or in secure yards — they can't hear cars
✔ Never sneak up — tap gently on the same spot each time

⛳️ TEAM BONDING NIGHT! 🍕

This weekend, our Schaumburg team stepped away from the clinic for a little while and got to spend some time together outside of work!

We started the evening with some mini golf, where there was definitely some friendly competition, questionable putting skills, and a whole lot of laughing. 😂⛳️ Let’s just say… some of us may be better at taking care of pets than we are at putting.

After working up an appetite, we headed out for an amazing dinner together and got to relax, catch up, and enjoy each other’s company without phones ringing, appointments coming in, or someone asking where the next patient is.

Team bonding nights like this are such a great reminder that the people we work alongside every day are more than just coworkers. We spend a lot of time together taking care of our patients, helping their families, solving problems, and occasionally surviving the chaos of a busy day — so having time to simply laugh and enjoy being together is something we really appreciate. ❤️

We’re incredibly lucky to have a team that works hard, supports one another, and knows how to have a good time together, too!

A big thank you to our Schaumburg crew for making the night such a fun one. We may not all agree on who won mini golf… but we can definitely agree that we had a great time. 😂⛳️

Here’s to good food, lots of laughs, great teammates, and plenty more memories outside the clinic! 🥰🐾

🍂 FALL HAS ARRIVED… AND SO HAS ANOTHER HANNAH MASTERPIECE! 🍂

If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that Hannah does NOT do boring. Give her a welcome board, a little inspiration, and a whole lot of creativity, and somehow she turns it into something we all stop and admire. 🍁

Every detail on this month’s board was put together by Hannah, and we seriously don’t know how she keeps coming up with new ideas every single month. From the little details to the overall design, she has a way of making our lobby feel completely different with every season. 🧡

We’re talking:

🍂 Details that make you want to stop and look at everything
🐾 A board that somehow makes our lobby feel extra cozy
🎨 Creativity that deserves WAY more credit than we can give it
✨ And, of course, that unmistakable Hannah touch

Hannah is one of those people who can take a simple idea and turn it into something so much bigger. She puts time, patience, and so much personality into these boards, and it really shows. We’re lucky to have someone on our team who is always willing to make our clinic a little more fun, welcoming, and us.

So while you’re here for your next appointment, make sure you take a second to check out Hannah’s latest creation! And if you see her, tell her how much you love it — because she absolutely deserves the recognition. 🥰

We may be biased, but we think Hannah is pretty great. Okay… REALLY great. 🧡

Come visit us, check out the new board, and let us take care of your favorite furry family members!

🐱 MYTH-BUSTING MONDAY! 🐱

MYTH: “My cat is indoor-only, so they don't need vaccines.”

FACT: Indoor cats can still be exposed to infectious diseases, which is why keeping up with recommended vaccines is an important part of their preventive care. 💉

We completely understand why this is a common misconception. If your cat spends their entire life inside, never goes outside, and doesn't interact with other animals, it can seem like they're protected from everything the outside world has to offer.

But indoor cats aren't necessarily in a completely risk-free environment.

Cats can potentially be exposed to infectious diseases during veterinary visits, boarding, grooming, travel, or contact with other animals. Certain infectious agents can also be brought into the home on shoes, clothing, or other items that have been in contaminated environments.

Vaccines work by helping your cat's immune system recognize and respond to specific diseases before they have a chance to cause serious illness. Some of the diseases vaccines protect against can be very contagious and potentially severe, making prevention especially important.

Another important point: not every cat needs the exact same vaccines or schedule. Your veterinarian will consider factors such as your cat's age, lifestyle, health history, and potential exposure risks when determining which vaccines are appropriate.

🐾 Kittens typically need a series of vaccines as their immune system develops and they lose the protection they received from their mother.

🐾 Adult cats need ongoing preventive care and booster vaccines according to their individual vaccination schedule.

🐾 Senior cats still benefit from regular wellness exams and should have their preventive care reviewed as they age.

So while your indoor cat may not be chasing squirrels, climbing trees, or exploring the neighborhood, they're still part of the world around them—and keeping their vaccines current is one way to help keep them protected.

Bottom line: Indoor lifestyle can lower certain risks, but it doesn't eliminate them completely. Talk with your veterinarian about which vaccines are recommended for your cat and how often they should receive them.
