Question of the Day | Why Mule Foot Hogs?
Mulefoot hogs are a really good fit for a small Kansas farm setup.
Here are 5 reasons why we raise them:
#1. Hardy in changing weather. Kansas weather can change from one day to the next. Heat, wind, cold snaps, tornados, drought. Mulefoots are tough and adaptable!
#2. Great foragers. They naturally root and till the soil, fertilizing it as they move and saving us money on input cost.
#3. Rich marbled quality meat. Mulefoots are slower growing, but they’re worth it! Their meat is richer flavor, more marbling, and has an old-fashioned pork taste.
#4. Rare heritage breed. Raising mule-foot hogs preserves older hardier bloodlines and carries forward a genetic diversity for future agriculture.
#5. Perfect for small or beginner farmers. Moving them around the field in a Hog pen benefits the land in a myriad of ways. They help clean weeds and brush and ultimately improve soil biology over time!♻️🌱
