This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

A bittersweet time here at Heritage, as our Hospital Manager, Sue, has announced her retirement. For over 40 years Sue has been a trusted mentor, a steady and fair leader, and a devoted friend. Below is a message she would like to share with our clients.

Dear Valued Clients,
After many rewarding years, I have made the decision to retire from VCA Heritage Animal Hospital.
This decision comes with mixed emotions. While I look forward to spending more time with family and pursuing hobbies, it is difficult to say goodbye to the many wonderful clients who have been such an important part of my professional life.
Looking back over my time as Hospital Manager, I am filled with gratitude for the trust you placed in me and our team. It has been an honor to work with you and to support your needs. Your loyalty and confidence have meant more to me than words can adequately express.
You will be in good hands while VCA Heritage transitions to a new manager and the dedicated team will continue serving you. I am confident they will provide the same commitment, professionalism, and care that you deserve.
The memories, experiences, and relationships we have shared over the years will always remain with me.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Sue

We know that you will miss Sue's presence here as much as we do. If you wish to drop of any cards are well-wishes here at the clinic, we will be happy to forward them to her.

Deputy Dollop is reporting for Garden Duty to make sure the plants are safe 🚔

We all love having a healthy and green lawn, however many popular springtime plants — as well as ingredients in fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides— could be dangerous to pets. Plants such as azaleas or rhododendron can prove fatal if eaten. It's almost summer! 🌴☀️

The weather is getting warmer, which means more time spent outdoors on long walks or trips to the park-this also means more opportunities for your pet to wander off. Before going outside, make sure your pet has a microchip and wears a tag with your home address, cell phone and any other relevant contact information.
If your pet is not microchipped, we can do this for you for $39.99! Just call 217-356-2200 or visit the MyVCA app to schedule an appointment.
