🌐💙 October is National Dysautonomia Awareness Month 💙🌐

Dysautonomia is an umbrella term for disorders of the autonomic nervous system — the part of the body that controls things we don’t even think about, like heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature regulation. For many including myself, this means daily symptoms like dizziness, fainting, rapid heart rate, and overwhelming fatigue.

Service dogs can play a life-changing role for individuals living with dysautonomia. Tasks like:

🐾 Deep Pressure Therapy to help regulate the nervous system
🐾 Forward momentum pull during dizziness or presyncope
🐾 Alerting to changes before an episode occurs
🐾 Picking up and retrieving items when energy is limited

This month, we want to recognize those living with invisible illnesses like dysautonomia and highlight how service dogs give their handlers more freedom, safety, and peace of mind in daily life.
