Honey Dew has two speeds: “LET’S GOOOO!” and “Okay, that’s enough.” 😂

At 6 years old, Honey Dew gets the cutest little bursts of energy where she’s ready to play and show you she’s still got it…and then, just as quickly, she decides she’s done quite enough and gets back to her regularly scheduled cuddling.

Honey Dew has perfected the art of being the ultimate cuddle bug. She loves cozy beds, tasty treats, belly rubs, and handing out endless kisses to everyone she meets. She’s never met a person she didn’t like and is always ready to make a new friend.

You may notice Honey Dew is a bit of a bigger gal — and there’s a reason for that! She has a thyroid condition that requires daily medication. Her condition is well-managed, and we will help cover the cost of her thyroid medication so that doesn’t stand in the way of finding her perfect home.

Honey Dew can be selective about her canine friends, but people are absolutely where her heart is. And for some reason, she has been with us for 178 days 😭 - we don’t understand it, but we know her people are out there.

Come meet the sweetest girl ever, our Honey Dew, today! 🙏🧡

How has this gorgeous girl been waiting 48 days for someone to choose her?! 🤍🐾

Meet Khloe…our stunning, all-white beauty who has been patiently waiting at our Adoption Center for a home of her own. And while we can’t say for sure why she keeps getting overlooked, we have a feeling the words “feline coronavirus” on her medical history might be making potential adopters nervous.

So, let’s talk about it. 😸

Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is actually very common in cats, especially those who have lived in multi-cat environments. It is NOT the same coronavirus that causes COVID-19 in people, and many cats with FCoV remain perfectly healthy or experience only mild gastrointestinal symptoms.

But Khloe knows she is so much more than something written on her medical record. 🤍

She is sweet, playful, absolutely gorgeous, and most importantly, she loves having feline companionship! Khloe would actually prefer a home with another cat because this girl needs a friend.

We know her perfect family is out there.

Come spend some time with her this week! And while you’re here, talk with our wonderful Cat Room staff about Khloe, her diagnosis, and what it could mean for her future home. They’ll be happy to answer your questions and help you decide if this sweet girl could be the perfect addition to your family. 🐾🧡

In August, we set out with one big goal: help as many pets as possible find their way home. 🧡

During our Clear the Shelters campaign, with the help of this incredible community, 209 pets found their families this month!

And...in addition to helping people find their pets, we provided essential services to more than 1,600 pets at Pet Fix in August alone, bringing our 2026 total to over 14,600 pets served.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone for adopting, fostering, volunteering, donating, sharing our posts, and for believing in our mission. We couldn't do it without you!

Happy tails y'all! 🧡🐾

🚨 IT’S THE FINAL WEEK OF CLEAR THE SHELTERS! 🚨

And Cider would like to know what exactly you’re waiting for. 👀🧡

For the rest of this week, ALL DOGS have a reduced adoption fee of just $50 as we wrap up our Clear the Shelters campaign — which means this is a pretty perfect time to finally give a deserving dog like Cider her happily ever after.

At 4½ years old, Cider has spent far too long waiting for someone to choose her. She’s playful, dog-friendly, smart, great with kids who are comfortable around dogs, and comes fully equipped with confidence, sass, and plenty of opinions. 😂

And treats? Cider LOVES them. Maybe a little too much. She can get jumpy and grabby when snacks are involved, but that food motivation also makes her incredibly trainable. She’s smart, eager to learn, and ready for a family who will embrace her goofy energy, zoomies, and BIG personality.

There are only a few days left of Clear the Shelters, we want to help everyone who has thought about adopting, have the chance to with our adoption special - ✨ ALL dogs: $50 for the rest of the week!

Let’s finish Clear the Shelters with some HAPPY TAILS! 🏡🐾

One adoption. Twelve and a half years of love. ❤️ This letter arrived in our mailbox, and let’s just say…you might want to grab the tissues for this one 😭⤵️

Dear staff of the Humane Society for Greater Savannah,

I’m not sure if there’s still anyone there from March 2014, and I highly doubt you’d remember us. Still, I feel obliged to write on the off chance someone does.

On March 9, 2014, I walked to the dog kennels and immediately fell in love with a bashful, hopeful, wrinkly little tan pit mix named Ike. I had another dog at the time, and the moment the two of them met, they were the best of friends. The staff members were thrilled, since Ike hadn’t done much but snooze since he’d arrived at the shelter.

In fact, they’d almost given up hope that Ike would ever be adopted. He’d been featured on the local news as the dog of the month (or week) — usually a ticket to adoption the very next day. But, for some reason, no one took Ike.

So when Ike immediately perked up with my dog and I, it was clearly meant to be.

There was just a tiny problem: I was only 19. And my unit commander was out of the country and couldn’t write the letter I needed. And pit bulls weren’t allowed on base.

Normally, that would’ve ended the story. But whoever was working that day had a hunch. Under “age,” she wrote “21.” For breed, “lab mix.” And we got a random lieutenant to sign a letter we wrote.

I know it’s an improbable long shot, but if that was you… you have no idea how right you were.

Thank you. You gave me 12 1/2 wonderful years with the sweetest, most understanding, loyal, happy dog I could ever imagine. He survived cancer once but declined suddenly and was diagnosed with an inoperable, incurable brain tumor. We laid him to rest in his own bed, surrounded by the people he loved, and looking as lovingly as ever into my eyes as he passed.

So, thank you, whoever you are, for taking a risk on a 19-year-old Army kid. You saved 2 lives that day.

— Aaron

Aaron, words cannot express how much your letter meant to our entire staff. THANK YOU for taking the time to share your story with us and for giving Ike 12 1/2 years of love, happiness, and the very BEST possible life. 🐾🥹😭
