Live Oak Veterinary Neurology offers diagnostic testing, treatment, and management options for diseases of the nervous system in pets. We are skilled in both medical management options and in surgical treatment for diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves and muscles in dogs and cats. We work closely with your primary care veterinarian to offer you and your pet the very best in medical and surgical outcomes. Dr. King created this page as a way to share some of the amazing and inspiring stories of his patients and their loving and dedicated owners.

This chocolate cake tells a whole story 🍫🎂

Our friends at United Community Bank surprised us with this gorgeous "Congrats Live Oak" cake from local baker Baker's Pride Bakery, and honestly, we almost got emotional before we got a fork.

Why? Because we just received our certificate of occupancy on our brand new building. 🏥🎉

That means we're officially moving equipment in and getting closer every single day to opening our doors and serving Savannah's pets in a big, beautiful new way. And none of this would be possible without business partners who feel more like family. United Community Bank has been in our corner through this entire journey, and this cake was the sweetest reminder (literally) of what community looks like.

I was honored to give a tour of our new facility to a visiting group of colleagues from Korea yesterday.

This week, Savannah hosts the largest conference in her history, the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Symposium (Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society) with over 5000 attendees from around the world!

We're proud to be a part of it. Come see us at the Career Fair tonight (Booth #221) or at the exhibit hall all week (Booth #305)!

The only disco happening here? Discospondylitis — and trust us, it's no dance party. 🕺

This painful spinal infection occurs when bacteria settles between vertebrae, causing inflammation and serious discomfort. Our patient came to us struggling, but we're thrilled to report he's responding beautifully to medical therapy!

While we're cautiously optimistic, surgery may still be on the horizon depending on how recovery progresses. That's the thing about complex cases — we celebrate every win while planning for every possibility.

Our neurology team is monitoring closely, adjusting treatment as needed, and giving this sweet patient all the support they need to get back on their feet. No hustle required! 💙

Sweet Oona and 2 of her littermates came to see us today! They have a rare genetic condition called Myotonia Congenita. This causes their muscles to remain contracted after use. Imagine making a fist and being unable to straighten your hand back out ...
They are starting therapy and now and we hope to have videos of their response for you soon!
WARNING: The second video shows part of her examination. This condition isn't painful for the patient, but it might be misinterpreted that way if you're sensitive to it.
