We’ve seen this information circulating online and felt it was too important not to share!

Bringing home a new dog is exciting, but it’s important to remember that everything is new to them. New people, new smells, new sounds, and an entirely new routine. Even the most loving home can feel overwhelming at first.

The 3-3-3 Rule is a helpful guideline for understanding their adjustment period.

3 DAYS: Your dog may feel scared, overwhelmed, or unsure of their surroundings. Give them space to decompress.

3 WEEKS: They begin learning routines, building trust, and showing more of their personality.

3 MONTHS: They may finally feel settled, secure, and comfortable in their new home.

Remember, this is a guideline, not a deadline! Every dog adjusts differently, and some need much more time.

Limit visitors, avoid overwhelming outings, provide a quiet retreat, and allow your new companion to adjust at their own pace.

You may have been waiting a long time to bring them home, but they’re still figuring out that they’re home.

Oct. 6 - Do better people!

These kittens were thankfully found near the boat launch at Munuscong River State Forest Campground before something happened to them.

If you have kittens you cannot care for and you are a Chippewa County resident, bring them to us. There is no surrender fee, and we will provide you with a free spay for the mother cat. Please don’t make their first experience with the world being abandoned outside and left to survive.

There is absolutely no reason to dump kittens or any domestic animal, for that matter. What exactly do you think happens when you dump kittens outside? Do you think they suddenly know how to hunt and catch enough mice to survive? Do you think they know how to protect themselves from predators? Find safe shelter? Stay warm when we had frost last night?

These are domestic kittens. Leaving them at a campground, boat launch, roadside, or anywhere else to fend for themselves is not giving them a better life. It is putting their lives at risk.

They deserved better.
