UPDATE! WE ARE ALL SET FOR NOW! We got a TON of stuff donated. We can't thank you all enough. I'm sure by the fall I will need another round of blankets. I am running out of room, I have to donate what I don't need. If you already planned to drop off, go ahead. Thank you all for the donations!

Porcupine Encounters Are More Common Than You Think

We are already seeing an increase in dogs having dangerous run-ins with porcupines and it’s something every dog owner needs to understand.

Porcupines do NOT shoot their quills. Your dog made contact… usually by getting too curious or attempting to attack.The quills are barbed, painful, and can travel deeper into the body if not handled properly.

Porcupines are not just a nighttime animal either: They can be active during the day and in New Hampshire, they are most active May through September.

If your dog gets quilled:
• Do NOT try to remove them yourself
• Quills can break, migrate, and cause serious infection
• Your dog needs immediate veterinary care

Prevention is everything:
• Keep dogs leashed, especially at dawn/dusk
• Be mindful near wooded areas, rock piles, and dens
• Check your yard before letting your dog out
• Know that curiosity can turn into an emergency in seconds

Heywood St / Wanoosnoc Rd / Canston St area.

DO NOT CHASE. Her name is Nalah and is a Shih Tzu / Golden Retriever. She has been missing since 11/8/2025. Blue collar with a moon and stars. Kitten. Small dog with a mostly brown coat and tan ears. face. and paws. Be on the lookout for this pup and report any sightings.
