Richard Davison: “it was a huge pleasure to present Becky Moody with the Davison Award . The award was the initiative of my late father who wanted to acknowledge the outstanding performances of our riders while competing as part of the British Team at an Olympics Games, World or European Championships. At this years Paris Olympic Games Becky stepped up and delivered. Thank you and congratulations and Jagerbomb.”

At the 2024 Becky won the Brett Wilson Dressage International Grand Prix, supported by and was third in the World Cup qualifier.

The Davison Award can be seen worn on the recipient riders tail coat. It featured in : https://www.eurodressage.com/2022/10/02/whats-bling-davison-award

Over the years I’ve chaired many rider, trainer and other stakeholder meetings but I found the .dressageridersclub and International Dressage Trainers Club meeting in Holland , to be different.

The level of engagement was intense and all attendees were fully exercised on the best direction for dressage and equestrian sport in general. Delegates from the Dressage Officials (judges) and Organisers club, the and the all came together, got stuck in and made really important contributions.

World Horse Welfare, of which I’m a Trustee, held their Annual Conference the following day in London. As usual, this provided numerous fascinating and thought-provoking presentations.

You can read about both conferences in this weeks magazine

Thanks go to the following (and lots of others not listed) for their effort and contribution to the IDTC/IDRC meeting;
Linda Keenen,
.williams.dressage and many more.

As we come towards the end of another I came across this photo.
It is when HOYS was at Wembley and held a World Cup qualifier.
The horse is a British Olympic horse but not one of my Olympic horses. I know exactly which fantastic horse this is but I can’t recall why I rode him in the parade 🤷!
Any info gratefully received please.

I’ve been reflecting on the piece by Owen Slot in published this weekend.
Whilst I’d rather not have our sport, or our riders, headlined and featured for this particular reason, I must give Owen credit for this piece. He went to great lengths, inconvenience and effort to achieve a balanced perspective. For example he traveled a number of 4-5 hour round trips to research the training of dressage horses, visited the National Championship and also made certain he spoke to numerous people who have a spectrum of interests and views.
It’s a refreshingly good example of balanced and professional journalism from The Times Chief Sports Writer.

If we want to claw back some of the recent loss of support for equestrian sport, when it comes to issues of horse welfare, then integrity matters.

This is most likely not the last home goal for us. We must be open to changes, and importantly be seen to change.

More in my column in this week’s magazine.
