Sometimes the problem isnât the problem. đž
This handsome guy, Maverick, has only been with his new family for one week, and one of their biggest concerns was how incredibly mouthy he was.
But rather than simply focusing on âHow do we make him stop putting his mouth on us?â we looked at why he was doing it.
Turns out, this guy has some serious prey drive. So we gave that drive somewhere appropriate to go. Then we wonât feel like jerks when we correct the mouthiness on us.
A flirt pole. A good game of tug. Opportunities to chase, grab, pull and PLAY.
Once we took that edge off and met some of those needs, we worked on his walkâgiving him more freedom to sniff and explore, while also teaching him how to respond when his humans need him to come along with them.
