🍂 As the days grow cooler and fall’s bounty fills our fields, we’re celebrating the season with a special opportunity to bring the harvest at Pitney Meadows Community Farm to more tables throughout our community.

🌾 Each Harvest Box is filled with a generous assortment of locally grown fall vegetables, including carrots, winter squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, turnips, and radicchio.

💚 But the goodness doesn’t stop at your table! The Harvest Box Program is about more than enjoying fresh, local produce. Every Harvest Box purchased helps us share the same harvest with a neighbor who could use a little extra support this season. Your participation helps carry the abundance of our farm beyond our fields and into kitchens across our community.

🌿Upcoming sessions still have openings! Full scholarships available! Second fall session begins October 28th. Full scholarships available! Spring 2027 sessions will begin in March and April. 🍂 Our first fall session of Nurtured in Nature was nothing short of magical! From tree yoga and independent projects (including writing a play about a squirrel on the farm!) to harvesting carrots straight from the fields, our after-school adventurers have been busy exploring, creating, and connecting with the natural world. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store!

🌿What began as a pilot program connecting elementary-aged children with seasonal science, mindfulness, play, and exploration has continued to grow alongside the children and families who have made it part of their lives. This year, students will have even more opportunities to build a relationship with the land, with one another, and with themselves.

🌿Younger students in K–3rd grade will continue exploring through sensory experiences, play, seasonal science, and mindfulness, while Emerging Nature Leaders, for students in 4th–6th grade and up, offers a deeper, project-based exploration focused on observation, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and leadership.

🌿A special thank you to Leah and Andrew Ferrone, co-founders and educators of Nurtured in Nature, for bringing their creativity, care, and deep love of the outdoors to this program. We’re so grateful for the thoughtful space they’ve created for young people to slow down, get curious, and connect with the natural world.

🌿We’re also incredibly grateful to Deborah and Dexter Senft for their generous support of Nurtured in Nature and their belief in the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, explore, and grow outdoors.

👟We’re still riding the post-race feels after an absolutely incredible 6th Annual Michael J. Pitney Farm Run this morning! And wow, what a day it was!

🌱 Three races… record-breaking registrations across all three, beautiful fall weather, the excitement of the Saratoga XC Invitational in the air, and a whole lot of community spirit filling the farm. From the starting line to the finish line, the energy was contagious, the cheers were loud, and the smiles were everywhere.

🥕 Our winners headed home with baskets full of farm-fresh goodies, while our youngest runners proudly walked away with carrots… some enjoyed a well-earned post-race snack, and others generously shared theirs with Upset the miniature horse! And runners of all ages made memories we hope will keep them smiling long after crossing the finish line!

👟 A huge, wholehearted thank you to every runner who registered, everyone who came out to cheer, every volunteer who rolled up their sleeves, and every one of our incredible 2026 sponsors who helped bring this day to life. Your time, generosity, and enthusiasm make events like this possible, and we’re so grateful to be in community with you all!

💚 Days like these are a beautiful reminder of what makes Pitney Meadows so special: the people who show up, the connections we make, and the community we continue to grow together. We’re so lucky to be part of it.

👟 Six years in, and we’re still blown away by the people who make this community so special. Thank you for showing up, showing out, and making this year’s Farm Run one for the books!

👟 Race Day is TOMORROW!

👟We suggest you register ahead of time! Pre-registration closes tonight (Oct. 9th). Don’t miss your chance to lock in your spot for the 6th Annual Michael J. Pitney Farm Run!

👟 Day-of registration is available, but the cut-off is SHARP!

👟Youth 1 Mile day-of registration closes at 8:15am
👟5K day-of registration closes at 8:45am
👟Youth Fun Run day-of registration closes at 9:30am

👟When you arrive, parking volunteers will direct you where to park and where to go for check-in and race bib pick-up!

👟 Race Shirt Reminder! Only runners who registered before October 1st are guaranteed a race shirt. Want more farm gear? Pitney Meadows merch will be available for purchase at the registration table!

👟All runners, plan a little extra time for your arrival and check-in! We can’t wait to see you at the starting line tomorrow!

❄️ A little frost, a little magic! Our first frost arrived this week, bringing a touch of sweetness to some of our favorite fall crops!

🌱 From carrots and radishes to kale, spinach, broccoli, radicchio, and cabbage, these cool-season crops are right at home as the temperatures drop. Some vegetables, especially leafy greens and root crops, respond to the cold by converting stored starches into sugars, helping them taste a little sweeter as the season gets colder!

💚 Swipe through to see a few of the colorful crops growing at the farm! Even as the seasons change, there’s still plenty to harvest, enjoy, and appreciate in the fields!

🎨 One last “Garden Art Gathering” for the season! Join us this evening, October 6th at 4:30pm, for the final Garden Art Gathering of the season at Pitney Meadows!

💚 As the garden settles into autumn, we’ll gather for one more evening of slowing down, looking closely, and letting the landscape inspire our creativity.

🌱 This isn’t a formal class… it’s a welcoming space to play, explore, and create alongside others. One last chance this season to soak in the beauty of the garden and enjoy the magic of making art in community.
