Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Bita B., RVT. 💙

Bita has been an RVT for 11 years and is part of our Surgery team. In Bita's words: "To give a voice to the animals who don’t have one."

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "I get to work with some of the most talented and caring staff I've ever worked with."

Outside of work: "I am an avid vintage book collector and rock collector. I make beaded and wire-wrap jewelry (although I do not sell it). I love to hike our local state and county parks. I share my house with Milly the cat, Abigail the Chihuahua mix, and Madeline the Havanese mix."

Fun fact: "I used to volunteer as a raptor handler/caretaker at Bird Rescue of Sonoma County. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for owls."

If Bita has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Tatjana K., RVT. 💙

Tatjana has been an RVT for 10 years and is part of our Surgery team. In Tatjana's words: "Animals are my salvation. They show unconditional love and compassion like no human can."

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "I get to make a positive difference in animals' lives in this community."

Outside of work: "I have 3 dogs: a Husky mix who came from a wolf rescue in NV, a Shepherd mix from the Inland Mendocino County Shelter, and a 3-legged Dalmatian I acquired while working here at PetCare. I also have a cat who was given to me by an old neighbor (her granddaughter brought her home from school hidden in her backpack), and a ball python who was left out in the cold in my neighborhood that I stumbled upon while walking my dogs. I also ride horses and care for several horses who would otherwise have no one else to care for them."

Fun fact: "I love to read, yes... “Adult Fantasy Romance" and I enjoy fantasy movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. In my spare time I study psychology at SSU and find creative outlets for my imagination through drawing, painting rocks, or chalk art in my driveway."

If Tatjana has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Angela O., RVT. 💙

Angela has been an RVT for 14 years and is part of our Internal Medicine team. In Angela's words: "I can't physically work on people as it grosses me out, so the best way I can help people is to help their pets. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing pets go home happy after being hospitalized or undergoing something traumatic."

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "I love anesthesia and pain management. I work closely with my internist to develop anesthesia plans and protocols for each individual patient. My goal is to make sure our patients are comfortable while addressing any anesthetic complications they may have. Being able to educate clients on why we make these recommendations is something I greatly enjoy. I also enjoy showing our veterinarians local/regional anesthesia techniques to improve patient outcomes. If you can, you should always block it!"

Outside of work: "I am an avid online gamer. I play all sorts of video games, ranging from role-playing games to racing to first-person shooters. Mortal Kombat is one of my favorite series to play! When I'm not playing games or cuddling with my pets, I love to cook. I try my best to recreate recipes passed down from relatives (as no one has an actual written recipe)."

Fun fact: "I have collected fake tattoos since middle school. I also like to celebrate all the weird "National Days" (my birthday is National Coffee Day)."

If Angela has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Sierra C., RVT. 💙

Sierra has been an RVT for 11 years and is part of our Emergency team. In Sierra's words: "I got into veterinary medicine after my own dog experienced an emergency (GDV), and I wanted to understand and learn more about what happens behind the scenes. I have always been an animal lover and advocate, and I continue to "speak" for my patients and assist them when they are experiencing their own emergencies."

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "Opportunities for continued education, a constantly growing skill set, and a variety of medical cases."

Outside of work: "Snuggling my two cats, playing with my dog, and being a mom to a toddler. I also enjoy working out, reading, and generally being outdoors."

Fun fact: "Before working in veterinary medicine, I earned an associate degree in Dance and was even the assistant dance director for a local high school dance company."

If Sierra has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Natassia D., RVT. 💙

Natassia has been an RVT for 2 years and is part of our Oncology team. In Natassia's words: "I want to help those that don't have a voice. Animals deserve to be treated with all the love and care in the world. My personal "why" for choosing Oncology is that I lost one of my dogs to cancer 10 years ago. When she was diagnosed, she opened my eyes to the world of Oncology. I do what I do because of her, to help bring comfort to my patients and their owners through such a difficult time."

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "Developing relationships with my patients and their owners. It brings me joy to see my patients happy to see me for their chemotherapy treatments. I know that in turn it makes their owners happy too, knowing that their beloved pet is in good hands and not afraid of being here. Establishing that trust makes it all worth it."

Outside of work: "I am a collector of books and board games! I love to read fantasy books and play board games with my family. I am a huge Disney fan, and I love to be creative - give me all the cute DIY projects! I have a Chiweenie named Basil. She is such a mama's girl and my little social butterfly. You may have seen her featured in some of our social media posts!"

Fun fact: "I play a TCG game called Lorcana. I speak Spanish. All three of my girls (dogs) have been black and white - I clearly have a type! Oh, and I have never been camping!"

If Natassia has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.
