3:30 pm October 14, we took down the last two cobs from our 2026 corn harvest. We now have all 12 varieties and about 8 tons in the Whire Barn and corn crib. Now we need to thrash, clean and mill cornmeal. And process nixtamal and ground masa. Going to be a good winter of polenta, pozole, pinole, tortillas, grits, cornbread, hush puppies……

Tierra Black corn. This past spring we selected really excellent seed and it paid off with this year‘s crop. We’re picking it now. Stay tuned for videos. It’s beautiful, highly productive and really black. There should be enough to go around for all those who enjoy both the cornmeal and masa. We will be selling seed this year too.

Evie was the author and she wrote it each week from scratch. Every item came with description, flavor profile, cooking instructions and/or recipe suggestions. Sometimes even with a funny remark:
