Canine Adoption and Rescue League - CARL Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL) - a 501 (c) (3) non-profit dog rescue and NO KILL since 1996 We operate almost entirely by volunteers.

Canine Adoption and Rescue League is an IRS 501(c)(3) Private Non-Profit No-Kill Organization. We rely on donations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. Since 1996, Canine Adoption and Rescue League has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned, and homeless dogs. Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our dogs. Canine Adoption and Rescue League receives hundreds of calls from people who must find a home for a stray, a litter of puppies or even a family pet.

Let these windy days be a reminder!

Keeping your dog’s microchip information up to date should always be a priority, but especially during weather events like the strong winds we’ve recently experienced here in California! 🐶

A microchip can help reunite you with your pet if they ever go missing, but only if your contact information is current!

A quick check today could make all the difference tomorrow. 🐾

Special thanks to Dog Days Search & Rescue for collaborating with us!

🌈 Amber is bringing joy, light, and a little bit of sunshine to her costume for day 16 of CARLween! With her loving personality, penchant for belly rubs, and fantastic leash manners, Amber certainly brightens volunteer and kennel staff’s day! If you are looking for a low maintenance gal who is up for adventures and couch time, Amber is your girl.

Willow is doing well post-surgery!

Along with our other pups, Willow beat the heat yesterday with frozen, dog-friendly pucks made and delivered by our dedicated volunteers.

One of the many benefits of volunteering with us is seeing happy dogs receiving special treats. Interested in volunteering? Go to the "Volunteer" link on our website and register to witness sweet moments like these.

Say hello to Rudy! 👋👋

This pit bull terrier is looking for a place to call home. Like his movie namesake, he would be happy watching football with you or the Dodgers in the playoffs. 🏈⚾️

This darling boy was found on the freeway, yet nobody claimed him, unfortunately. Don’t let his age fool you (He’s a spry 8 year old): He’s got a lot of energy left.

Apply to adopt or foster Rudy by going to the “Adopt” section on our website.

🎃 Day 14 of CARLween brings you another superhero in disguise! Chula has always been a fan of Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) and her role as an ambassador for peace and justice. Chula would love to find her own peace in the form of quiet reprieve from kennel life in a foster or forever home. Plus, who doesn’t want an invisible jet or lasso of truth?!

Chula is hoping she can find a complementary Amazonian princess to spend her superhero filled days with 💕

🐠 Hunter has turned out to be quite the water boy! That’s why he wanted to be a goldfish for CARLween day 13! Between his love of diving into a pool and his short attention span when it comes to his listening ears, a goldfish is incredibly fitting for this sweet boy. Being a short stack German shepherd, Hunter already faces an uphill battle considering how common his breed can be in shelters. He figured he would try to appeal to those looking for a low maintenance aquatic pet instead.

Foster or adopt this slightly fluffier than normal goldfish before you forget you were looking for a new friend 🐾

We have two exciting pup dates to share.
🎊🎊

Itty bitty Izzy is settling well into her new place. Her mom writes to our adoption coordinator, “Our doggie daughter is doing great! She had a few issues, but she’s very smart. She’s a good girl! She’s been to the beach and loves to walk. She loves her new life. Thank you! We love her!”

Playgroup favorite Simba also recently found his forever home…his foster family! We knew someone would want to bring this bouncy and cheerful GSD into their space.

We have other adorable pups of all ages and sizes seeking their permanent walking buddies. Go to the link in our bio to discover them.
