🦟❤️ HEARTWORM DISEASE: PREVENTION SAVES LIVES! 🐶🐱
Did you know that heartworm disease is preventable, but can be life-threatening if left untreated?
Heartworms are spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Once a pet is infected, the worms can live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels, causing serious damage over time. The scary part? Your pet can have heartworm disease without showing obvious symptoms in the early stages.
That’s why annual heartworm testing + year-round prevention are so important! 🩺✨
🐾 Why test for heartworms?
• Helps detect infection early
• Allows your veterinarian to start appropriate care
• Even pets on prevention should be tested regularly
• Early detection can help prevent severe heart and lung damage
💊 Why use prevention?
• Helps protect your pet from becoming infected
• Preventive medications can stop immature heartworms from developing into adults
• Year-round prevention provides consistent protection, even when mosquitoes aren't obvious
❤️ Prevention is much safer, easier, and less expensive than treating established heartworm disease.
Keep your furry family members protected! Ask your veterinarian about the heartworm prevention and testing schedule that's right for your pet. 🐕🐈
