MEET MISS GRACIE

At approximately 20 years young, Miss Gracie isn’t looking to win any races — and quite frankly, she’d probably prefer you didn’t ask.

This sweet girl has **more WHOA than GO** and thinks an easy-going trail ride sounds like a perfectly lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Gracie has been out on the trails, doesn’t spook or bolt, and is happiest just taking life at a nice, comfortable pace. She’s also recently had her teeth done and has been seen by the chiropractor.

What we want most for Miss Gracie is simple:

**A soft place to land.**

Someone who isn’t looking for the fastest horse in the barn, but instead appreciates a seasoned girl who would enjoy some leisurely trail rides, lots of love and a home where she can settle in and be someone’s special horse.

For Miss Gracie, **the RIGHT home is far more important than anything else.**

MEET CHRISTINE — TOUGH LUCK TRIO’S CHIEF HOPE WRANGLER

Around here, we believe everyone deserves a second chance — whether you have two legs or four.

Meet Christine Briones, MSW, the incredible heart behind the mental health side of Tough Luck Trio.

Christine is a mental health professional AND animal rescuer with a passion for bringing healing and second chances together. She has spent more than 6 years in the mental health profession, including her work with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for the past 22 years.

She holds a BA in Psychology from American Military University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from CSUN.

But Christine is definitely not all textbooks and therapy.

She and her husband, Phil, own Trinity B Ranch in beautiful Leona Valley, where they live with their two kids and enough fur-kids to keep life interesting. She rescues animals, makes her own fabulous goat milk skincare line, loves riding her horses and, when she gets the chance, you’ll find her chasing cans on horseback.

In other words… she fits right in around here.

Together with Tough Luck Trio and Conscious Puzzles, Christine is helping us create something very close to our hearts — a place where rescued horses and mental health support come together to help veterans, first responders, families and members of our community heal, reconnect and rise.

Because sometimes the horse that needed a second chance might just help a person find theirs.

We are so excited for you to get to know Christine — our very own Chief Hope Wrangler.

They know what it feels like to be afraid.

To lose trust.
To need someone to simply stay. And maybe that’s why they’re so incredible at meeting us in our own broken moments.

They don’t need your story.
They don’t need you to find the words.
They just stand beside you so you don’t have to hurt alone.

🐴 WHY HORSES CAN HELP US HEAL

There’s something powerful about being with a horse — and there’s science behind it, too.

Horses are incredibly sensitive to subtle changes in our body language, breathing, movement and emotional state. Because they respond to what’s happening in the moment, working with them can help us become more aware of what our own bodies are telling us.

Research into equine-assisted interventions also suggests that interacting with horses may support stress reduction, emotional regulation, mindfulness and connection.

And our horses bring something else to the relationship. ❤️

They’re rescues.

Many know what it means to experience fear, uncertainty, loss of trust or being left behind. They’re on their own healing journeys, too.

There’s no judgment.
No expectation to have the right words.
Just an opportunity to connect, rebuild trust and heal — together.

Sometimes the first step toward healing doesn’t have to be taken alone. 🐴❤️

❤️Something life-changing is happening at Tough Luck Trio. ❤️

For the past few years, our mission has been about giving animals a second chance.

Now, that mission is growing.

Because sometimes **people need a second chance, too.**

Tough Luck Trio is incredibly proud to begin a new chapter in partnership with **Conscious Puzzles**, bringing licensed equine-assisted mental health services to our community.

A place where professional therapy meets the quiet, healing presence of horses.

A place to reconnect, rebuild and find your footing again.

And most importantly…

**You don't have to take the first step alone.**

Our first program will focus on veterans experiencing PTSD, with plans to expand services for children, families, first responders, caregivers and individuals in our community.

This is more than a new program for Tough Luck Trio.

**It's a new purpose. A new chapter. And we truly believe it's going to change lives.**

🐴 Sometimes the best therapy doesn't happen in four walls... it happens between two ears.

Just you.
The horse.
The earth.
The breeze.
The moment.

Something incredible happens the instant you swing your leg over a horse.

Your breathing slows.
Your heart begins to match theirs.
The noise of the world gets quieter.

Science tells us horses help regulate our nervous system, lower stress, and bring us back into the present.

Horse people have known it all along.

No matter what you're carrying...
Grief.
Stress.
Anxiety.
Heartache.
The weight of everyday life...

It begins to slip away.

And as you ride toward the setting sun, those worries seem to fall from your shoulders like a heavy jacket you no longer need to wear.

Thank you for the early mornings, late-night feedings, emergency fence repairs, surprise vet bills, and endless love you give to the animals who depend on you.

They may not be able to say it, but your horses, dogs, cats, goats, donkeys, pigs, and every other four-legged family member know who shows up for them every single day.
