Mossy hides are for everyone 😌

Our mossy hides are made with 100% real dehydrated moss. They can be used with a wide variety of species, including arid! If you don’t mist them, they don’t increase your ambient humidity, and instead just provide a whimsical, natural place to hide and hangout. Just note, the lush green look does fade faster under heat and high UVB!

Just because a snake CAN survive in certain conditions, doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to keep them that way. Ball pythons are a great example of this- it’s not usual to see them kept in small, shallow, plain habitats with 1 hide.

Research has shown snakes and other reptile brains to posses significant plasticity. Providing your reptiles with large enclosures, mental and physical challenges like multiple hide choices, places to climb, and micro habitats within the enclosure all promote brain growth.

Keeping reptiles in stark, undersized environments can cause underutilization of key brain areas. This can lead to impaired problem-solving, reduced resilience to stress, and unwanted repetitive behaviors.

The iconic red eft can be spotted in the northeastern US again, much to many a herper’s delight! This charismatic eft is the terrestrial stage of the Eastern newt. After a few months of fully aquatic larval stage, the eastern newt becomes a terrestrial juvenile, developing lungs and a bright orange coloration to ward off predators.

They spend 2-3 years at the terrestrial stage before returning to water to reproduce, developing a larger paddle-like tail and slimy, olive green skin.

A staff member removed this individual from a busy bike trail in Pennsylvania, and he can be seen here in fresh bike tire tracks, so it’s a good thing she got to him in time.
