Some people they come and they go
We part ways and maybe we forget them
But others, for better or best
Leave footprints on our heart
Lasting images in our mind
They hand us pieces to the puzzle
That is this life
Jenna was one of those
And though we did not always agree or get along
We were always there for each other
We were always sure to touch base from time to time
And even to plan an adventure together when the stars aligned
A month ago she stopped by my van
Just to say hi to me and goodbye to my old dog
Who will be joining her any day now
I had no idea that it would be our last hug
Our last goodbye, and the last memory we would share
I'm a bit angry at her, that she decided to paraglide when conditions were rough
And maybe would push her to the limit of her skills
But just like you cannot fault the sun for shining
You could not fault for sending it regardless of the circumstances
She was that friend that from time to time I would not hear back from
And I would wonder....did it finally happen?
Did she climb that one last wall, camp alone in that one last campsite, or did she make that one last flight.
Time and time again she would return and we would meet again
But this time it was not the case
This time I didn't hear back from her
But I did hear back from the people who loved her
And knew what a long journey we had been on together
And I heard from some places we visited together
The kind of places people rarely go to
But those who do go feel deeply for them
A random person, randomly mentioned
The two last places she and I went together
And only later that day did I find out she had passed
Clearly she left an impact at those places
And those place, like our mutual friends
Wanted to make sure I heard it from them first
Just so it was clear that our connection was still
In tact
They often say "she died doing what loved"
And that is how my grandfather went
They say Icarus flew to close to the sun
And his wings melted
Jenna sure got close to it and I know from@first hand experience
She made it to the sun long before she left us
So next time you wonder if you should just know
