Running a small business means balancing trust with protecting yourself.
Recently, I experienced a situation involving a supposed overnighted payment for pet transport services — but no tracking information was ever provided, and the package never arrived.
Communication wasn’t the issue. We were actively communicating the entire time. But as a professional transporter, I still have to verify payments and protect my business before committing to a trip.
Unfortunately, scams involving fake checks, unverifiable payments, rushed bookings, and fraudulent shipping claims have become increasingly common for small businesses and independent transporters.
That doesn’t mean every situation is a scam. But it does mean businesses have to follow verification procedures and trust their instincts when something doesn’t add up.
Requesting a tracking number for an overnighted payment is reasonable.
Verifying funds before transport is reasonable. Protecting your business is reasonable.
At Safe Paws Logistics LLC, professionalism, communication, safety, and transparency will always come first — for both our clients and our business.
