🎆 Fireworks season is fast approaching, and many pets experience fear and anxiety from loud noises. If your furry family member struggles during this time of year, please call our office as soon as possible to schedule an exam and discuss whether prescription-strength anxiety medication may help them stay calm and comfortable. We strongly recommend scheduling early, as appointments fill quickly before the holiday. In the meantime, create a quiet indoor space, play soft music, offer enrichment toys, and consider an anxiety vest or snug-fitting t-shirt to help reduce stress.

🐾 The 4th of July also brings additional safety risks for pets. Keep fireworks, alcohol, glow jewelry, citronella products, matches, lighter fluid, and human foods out of reach, and keep pets indoors and away from celebrations whenever possible. Cats can be affected by fireworks too, so be sure to provide them with a safe, quiet place to hide. If you suspect your pet has ingested something toxic, contact us immediately or ASPCA Poison Control at (888) 426-4435. Stay safe and have a happy holiday! 🇺🇸❤️🐶🐱

Available at South Coast Pet Hospital! BRAVECTO QUANTUM is a long-acting injectable flea and tick preventive for dogs and puppies 6 months of age and older. A single injection provides 12 months of protection against fleas and most tick species, including black-legged, American dog, brown dog, Asian longhorned, and Gulf Coast ticks. Protection against lone star ticks lasts up to 8 months. BRAVECTO QUANTUM begins killing fleas quickly and was shown to be 100% effective against adult fleas within 48 hours of treatment. As with all isoxazoline products, use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders.
