Happy Mothers Day! Feliz Dia de las Madres! 💐 💗 We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful SoCal day we have today. No matter how you celebrate today. To the mom's with pets, biological kids, adopted kids, aunts, sisters, etc, we see you and thank you! 💗

We have been rather quiet over here because this year I became a mother to a human child! We welcomed a new member to our family April 6th and have been adjusting to this new life. When I discovered I was pregnant I knew that would mean things had to slow down in the rescue for my sanity and health. We are a small small team and it was the best thing to do for everyone. Cali's Misfits is closed for intake, likely through the year. We do have cats in care currently and are dedicated to their wellbeing and promoting the available kitties for adoption still! So while we may quiet know we do have cats and not permanently closed by any means! We are still operating, just things have to shift for a bit.

The fosters & residents in the home with the newborn are also adjusting to life 😅 Like Ivy here who is very curious about baby, but only inspects areas once baby has vacated. She figures it's the safest, though sometimes she will stare from a far! Ivy is still available for adoption, while she's on the shyer side she is a sweetie and a great kitty companion!

Ginger is dreaming of her forever home 🥰 She would love a lot of attention! Kitty friends would be a plus but not necessary. A friendly dog would be cool too. ❤️

It's a crazy windy day in Orange County! Our kitties are avoiding the catio and have chosen to nap the day away 💤

We have a tragic update for our longest Misfit, Santana. After his much needed dental in the summer Santana was comfortable and enjoying his foster family as usual. But recently he began to go downhill, it became urgent last weekend. He had always had kidneys with questionable levels and they did begin to shutdown on him tragically. Santana was rescued early summer 2022, he was in an overrun colony we were asked to support with, he had initially been a TNR but then he was discovered to be paralyzed. He was a severe FIP case but with amazing care from his foster family he recovered. He was a street cat who was lucky to have a loving home to recover in and to experience being a part of a family. Santana never got adopted but he had a family and he got to be a big foster brother to kittens. He took his job very seriously.

If anyone can help us recover some funds for Santana's final bill we would truly appreciate the support.

Nothing to see here... Just a very handsome boy lounging annoying his view 🖤

Kai continues to require his inhalers. Some days he needs multiple puffs a day, other days only twice. We have noticed a difference based on air quality. He does have humidifiers and air purifiers! Through it all he remains the sweetest most loving boy! 🐈‍⬛ 🖤

We would like to share a story of a VERY lucky little lady. Rosemary 😍 She was wandering around meowing and she came across a foster momma! She was secured and lucky to get a spay appointment ASAP. While in recovery it was hit or miss what the future would be for this little jelly bean, initially an attempt was made to reintroduce her to her colony. She did well until she followed her foster momma a little too far on a walk and got scared on the streets. After she was resecured she was being evaluated to be an indoor kitty and to see how social she was. Turns out Rosemary is a big fan of the indoor life and she opened up to show she is a social butterfly! It is a tragedy that with so many cats often friendlies do end up TNR'd, but in the case of Rosemary we didn't see the street smarts we like to see in TNR cases and thankfully the foster mom was able to squeeze her in to the household ❤️ Rosemary is officially ready to adopt and looking for a family to call her own! She is friendly and loves to be with people!

Well well... Look who we have here! Long term Misfit Macadamia checking in. We finally have some good news to share ❤️ if you are familiar you probably know that Mac is a sickly girl unfortunately. There isn't anything we've found that we can truly say 'THIS IS WHY' she just is. She has been treated for FIP 3x now, which is a huge stressor on its own. A few months ago we saw telltale signs pop up again so back to the vet she went. Only to discover it was JUST an ear infection *phew* Well tragically this ear infection proved to be extremely difficult for her to fight. We had multiple cultures done, bloodwork, different medications were used and FINALLY after months of treatments and ear cleanings she kicked the infection. But as you can see this has now left her ears with damage, giving them that curled/floppy look. She also has some hair loss at the base of the ears because of some of the medication used.

While this isn't want we wanted to happen we are glad that finally she is ear infection free. And for the first time in her entire life we are catching her playing and having fun 🩷 she was racing back and forth on the wall until she noticed someone was watching 👀

Jade here looking her cutest! She is ready for all the holiday festivities with her foster family ❤️ But you know what she is wishing for?? A family of her own! Jade is a very sweet young petite girl who loves cuddles and attention. She would also prefer to be the queen bee of her household, because all the attention obviously should be hers! Jade is great with animal friendly kids though! Spread the word on Jade 😍

Sundays are for self care and getting ready for the week. Ginger decided her big foster brother could use a good ear cleaning 😅

Ginger is our last kitty for 2025! She is going to be spayed this week and then available to adopt finally! She is a very petite girl with so much personality 😍
