🚜 Happy National Farmers Day!

Today we’re celebrating the wonderful farmers who make our market possible!

There’s a whole lot of hard work that goes into bringing fresh, local food to market each week, and we’re so thankful for the farmers who do it.

We’re lucky to have such a great group of farmers at the Pittsboro Farmers Market, and we love being able to connect them with our community every Thursday.

If you haven’t gotten to know the farmers you buy from, take a minute to say hello next time you’re at market! They love talking about what they grow and raise, and there’s something pretty special about knowing the people who produce your food, flowers, soap, and more!

To all of our farmers, thank you for everything you do! And to our customers, thank you for continuing to support local agriculture. We couldn’t do it without you!

🌽Sweet Corn🌽 "Milky Way" variety is a "TripleSweet" white corn that'll knock your tastebuds out of this world. It's great to eat on the cob and freezes very well to enjoy year round, too. $6.00 per dozen, $3.00 per half dozen or .50 cent each ear.

🍉Watermelon🍉 "Crimson Sweet" variety does have seeds but ya know, we need seeds to grow more! This melon is very sweet and has a nice firm flesh & holds well in the fridge after it's cut and even better on the counter before it's cut.

🍈Cantaloupe🍈 "Tuscan Tirreno" variety is a very good loupe! Its bright orange flesh is sweet and flavorful with just the right amount of juice

🍀Okra🍀 Why isn't there an emoji for Okra??? Oh well, we'll just use this 4 leafed clover because we are lucky to have such an amazing versatile vegetable that does our bodies so much good. Okra is a very low calorie veggie that is packed with fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and helps to lower bad cholesterol, too.

🧅Onions🧅 Our onions are a very tasty mild flavor that won't overpower your food but give you just the right amount of Ooomph! We sell them singly or by the bag. Pick up just a few for this week or grab a bag and keep it in a cool dark place (closet, cabinet, box) and use them throughout the Fall and Winter as needed.

🥒Cucumbers "English Cucumbers" 🥒are often called "burpless" as they don't have many seeds, which is what makes you burp. They've got a really nice taste and as long as you keep them wrapped they'll last a couple weeks in the refrigerator. The skin is super thin so if they're left unwrapped they'll dehydrate. An added plus for a thin skin is that you don't have to peel them! The skin doesn't have that bitter taste and is not hard to chew. Give them a try!
