We always recommend annual heartworm testing and year round prevention.

And no, it's not just to "sell more product" 🫠
The manufacturers of the preventive medications AND the American Heartworm Society all have the same recommendations.
Our demographic area is inundated with ticks and mosquitos, (and a plethora of intestinal parasites, which I Interceptor Plus/ Credelio/ Quattro monthly tablets also prevent and help treat) so it is important that they are treated monthly all year long.

Is it expensive? Not as expensive as treatment for heartworm or Lyme disease.
What if my pet doesn't like it? They are a flavored chewable tablet. It's one tablet once a month. There are pill pockets and other tricks, but crushing it into some canned food works too if they won't swallow it on their own.

MYTH: My dog is on heartworm preventative, so he doesn't need to be tested.

Did you know???? Our CSR's also enroll in Continuing Education throughout the year. They are required to learn medical terminology, continuously adapt and be able to triage a range of symptoms and situations, and they train on leadership and grief support. 🐾 On top of that, they are Trupanion (insurance) and Care Credit (health care LOC) certified 📋
They are not "just" the gateway to the back (Drs and technicians), they provide a vital service to our clients and patients and we are very thankful to our dedicated receptionists! ❤️
