The NCQHA Tar Heel Classic was definitely one for the books.
We arrived excited to show SM Little Inferno, LC Black Paddy 299, and WW A Dash of Whiskey, but after just one class with Chief, an unexpected trip to the ER changed everything. What could have been the end of our show weekend quickly became a reminder of how special the people in this industry truly are.
Without hesitation, Hallie stepped up and offered to catch ride all three horses. No preparation, no time to get comfortable—just a willing heart and a determination to do right by the horses.
Watching her walk into the pen, you would have thought she had been riding these horses every day. She showed each one with confidence, patience, and incredible talent, bringing home multiple Circuit Championships and more first-place finishes than we could count. To top it all off, she stepped into the show pen with Chief for her very first reining class ever and handled it like a seasoned competitor. We couldn’t have been more proud.
The wins and accomplishments were incredible, but what impressed me most was Hallie’s character. She stepped up when we needed her most, took exceptional care of these horses, and represented our program with grace, sportsmanship, and professionalism every step of the way.
A huge thank you also goes to Redtail Ranch and the amazing team of Bryan Kirby and Katie Kirby. Your guidance, encouragement, and support mean more than we can put into words. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do and for helping both our horses and riders continue to grow and succeed.
Some weekends are about the ribbons, and some weekends are about the people who remind you why you love this sport. This was one of those weekends.
