After a lot of thought (and a lot of excitement), it’s finally time to share some big news...

We’re moving to Florida! ☀️

This fall, I’ll be saying goodbye to the Cape and starting the next chapter of my business in Port Charlotte, Florida.

To my amazing Cape Cod clients: thank you. You’ve trusted me with your dogs, cheered me on, recommended me to your friends, and helped build Cape Canine Academy into what it is today. I’ll never be able to fully express how grateful I am for all of you. ❤️

I’ll continue working with my current clients through September, but I will be wrapping up everyone’s training programs and preparing for the move.

Now for the exciting part...

Hello, Florida! 🌴

I’m so excited to bring Cape Canine Academy to Port Charlotte and start helping dog owners in Southwest Florida. I’ll be offering the same personalized, in-home training that has been the heart of my business from the very beginning, and I can’t wait to become part of a new community.

If you’re in the Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Port, Englewood, Venice, or surrounding areas, I’d love to connect! Feel free to follow along as I get settled, and if you know anyone looking for dog training in the area, I’d be so grateful if you’d send them my way.

Drugs are what you use as a last resort. When you didn’t take the time to properly prepare your dog.

Desensitizing is great, and is ideal, but is not the only option. You should strive to create a dog who can cope with stressful events, because they happen.

Resilience is the goal.

Dogs learn patterns incredibly well, and asking for alternate behaviors is a great way to start building better habits while breaking the old habits. Sammy is a big jumper, so we’ve been working hard on calmer greetings and she’s getting so much better.

I’m in no way saying you have to use one or that all dogs should be trained with one. Absolutely not. But they can be used well and don’t destroy your dogs enthusiasm for recall when used correctly. And let’s all remember, the goal should be making dogs lives safer and more fulfilled and if someone is doing that then let’s support them.
