Now that we’ve introduced our dogs we thought this would be fitting to share. Something’s we get asked a lot and something’s we think about sharing often. We know these slides may be controversial but we feel very confident that it makes a huge difference in our dog’s health and well being. Meet the chickens 🐓🐔 this photo is old but a favorite ❤️

Our flock is currently made up of 15 hens and 2 roosters, but chickens have been part of our life together for over seven years now. Most springs you can count on us adding at least a few new chicks to the crew.

Every Board & Train dog and many of our regular boarding dogs gets experience being around them. They’re one of our favorite real life tests for impulse control, neutrality and prey drive. There’s a big difference between a dog listening when nothing exciting is happening and a dog being able to stay calm while a bunch of chickens are scratching, flapping and running around a few feet away. 😂

They also earn their keep around the property. Our chickens do an incredible job helping control ticks, bugs and other little pests. Between keeping the property maintained and having our flock constantly scratching through the yard, we’ve truly never had much of a tick problem here.

Between us, the kids and the dogs, we can easily go through almost a dozen eggs in a day, so they definitely are a huge asset here. But every once in a while the girls outproduce us and we have extras available. So if you’re here for a drop-off or pick-up, always feel free to ask if we have any fresh eggs for sale!
