This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible technicians who bring skill, compassion, and dedication to every patient they care for.

From monitoring anesthesia and supporting critical patients to offering a gentle touch during difficult moments, our veterinary technicians do so much more than what happens behind the scenes.

They're problem-solvers, patient advocates, trusted teammates, and an essential part of everything we do at PESCM.

To our amazing veterinary technicians: Your superpower isn't just what you do. It's the heart you bring to doing it. 💙💚

Thank you for the countless ways you make a difference for our patients, their families, and each other.

Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re celebrating the Hispanic and Latino members of our team, and the compassion, dedication, and perspective they bring to veterinary medicine.
Their stories reflect different paths, cultures, and experiences, but they share a commitment to supporting our patients, their families, and one another.
We’re proud of the people behind the care and grateful for how they strengthen our PESCM community year-round, not only during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Jessica Silva’s path to veterinary medicine began with her first dog and best friend, Betsy. That bond, and the heartbreak of losing her, motivated Jessica to learn how she could help animals and the people who love them.

Today, she brings the values she learned from her Hispanic heritage — hard work, compassion, and a welcoming spirit—to her role as a veterinary technician.

Her advice to young Latinos considering veterinary medicine: “Échale ganas—give it your all. If caring for animals is your passion, go for it.” ❤️🐾

With so many new doctors joining our team, we recently brought together our referring veterinary community for an evening of connection, introductions, and music trivia!

It was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen relationships, welcome our newest specialists, and enjoy some fun outside of our usual day-to-day collaborations.

Thank you to our RDVM community for joining us and for your continued trust and partnership. We love working alongside you to provide exceptional care for the pets and families we serve.

For Veterinary Assistant Diana Castaneda, a love of animals and the values she brings to their care began during childhood visits to her grandmother’s ranch in Mexico.🐾

Growing up Mexican American taught Diana to treat others like family and lead with compassion, empathy, hard work, and a welcoming spirit. Today, those values guide the way she supports our patients, their families, and her PESCM teammates.

Diana is also passionate about representation in veterinary medicine and the trust, education, and positive change it can help create.

Her message to young Latinos considering this career: “Take the leap! There are so many opportunities in this field, and there’s a place for you here.”

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to celebrate Diana and the heart she brings to the people and pets in her care. ❤️

For Dr. Alex Tun, representation and communication are essential to compassionate veterinary care.

As a Latino veterinarian working in specialty medicine, Dr. Tun values the opportunity to support Latino and Spanish-speaking families as they navigate their pets’ neurologic conditions. These cases can already feel overwhelming, and communicating in a family’s preferred language can build understanding, trust, and confidence when families need to make important decisions.

Dr. Tun also hopes to encourage more young Latinos to pursue careers in veterinary medicine and help build greater representation within the profession.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to celebrate Dr. Tun and the meaningful difference he makes for our patients, their families, and the future of veterinary medicine.
