Though this isn’t me and well before I was born, I grew up riding ponies at this beach!

Remember this?

At the 1962 Inverness Two-Day Event (California), Fence 3 sent horses and riders out into the bay, underneath a pier and between its pilings. The original report noted that whether a horse waded belly-deep or swam depended “on his size as well as his mood!” While the horses won’t be swimming their way around cross-country, the 2026 USEA American Eventing Championships kick off this week in Lexington, Kentucky.

For your consideration: Inverness Ridge offers “Hitchi,” a 16.2, 2007 Belgian Warmblood mare. Hitchi is the perfect packer from flat lessons through the 2’3,” and is looking for her next rider to teach. She is excellent on the trail, and can even go out ba****ck. Snaffle mouth, kick ride on the flat and an appropriate motor relative to fence height while jumping. Most recently, Hitchi has helped a novice junior course around successfully at Temecula and Blenheim, and has also brought her novice amateur owner back to jumping small courses. Great on the ground, pleasant to handle and turn out, clips, bathes, and stands for the farrier with no issues. Hitchi would make an excellent addition to any program. Asking ✌🏼👋🏼,000.

As of May 18, 2024, the Orange County Coastkeeper and The Ridland Group have agreed in principle to a plan that will protect the San Juan Creek while allowing Blenheim EquiSports to hold its equestrian events this season at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

“We are profoundly grateful to Coastkeeper for their hard work and cooperative efforts to assure the long-term future of equestrian events at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park under the strictest of environmental protocols,” said Robert Ridland, President of The Ridland Group. “This agreement confirms not only that the equestrian competitions will continue in 2024 but that all the other various community and charity events will as well. Most importantly, this agreement assures that all equestrian activities at the Riding Park will operate in a manner that provides the highest degree of protection to the environment and the surrounding watershed.”

The parties have been in longstanding collaboration in order to come up with a plan to protect the San Juan Creek and have settled on a clear course of action that will protect water quality while continuing equestrian operations at The Riding Park. The Ridland Group is committed to upholding Coastkeeper’s goal of improving local water quality to protect the people and wildlife of the San Juan Creek Watershed.
