New week New course

3 progressing jump exercises for regularity, precision, and adjustability

1️⃣ Starting with a set of bounce! Teaching the horse and rider to find a rhythm canter, that stays consistent in stride. This also improves foot-work and strengthens topline.

2️⃣ The Narrow 3-line option! One straight line of 4 strides, through the two verticals. This tests you aids for straightness and challenges your ability to keep the horses attention on the line that YOU want to ride. After jumping the first fence in, you can then choose either a left or a right bend in 3 stride, further training submission to the direction of each fence. I love this exercise for horses who predict where you will turn in landing, it really keeps them waiting and listening.

3️⃣ A simpler exercise of adjustability. The distance is closer, 3 strides, so this is for more experienced pairs. Start by getting the 3 in a more going pace, then adding for 4 comfortable strides. Making sure the canter you want, based on the number of strides, reflects early before entering the line. Add difficulty by raising the fences and adding the guiding tracks.

Pro tip - the tracks can help get the horses attention on BOTH straightness and helps them look and wait, making the add in distance a little easier.

Jack has recently been excelling as an event horse, with experience showing through the Novice level. He has producing consistently clear show jumping and cross-country rounds, and with his most recent dressage score putting him in the 20s! Also having experience in the jumpers to the 1.10s and was a hunt horse in Ireland, this boy has done it all! Jack has an easy, well mannered temperament, not spooky, and fun to ride. Light of the aids, flatwork is simple and enjoyable. Eager jumper, always wanting to please!

Jack is 8 years old and a big boy standing at 18 hands, he could easily be a gentleman’s horse, while still being soft enough for a lady to ride. Does like a confident pilot over fences, will always jump and is very forgiving with mistakes!

Jacks has fantastic pedigree - Cavalier Royal x Quidam de Revel, along with Cruising and King of Diamond. A high quality horse with exceptional breeding of Irish and Holsteiner.
