Founded: 2005 13th Street Cat Rescue is an all-volunteer animal rescue in San Jose, California. We are dedicated to improving the lives of homeless cats and controlling their population by the use of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR is an internationally-recognized, humane and effective program for reducing the population of stray and feral cats.

In the past three years alone, TNR has contributed to a 25% reduction in the number of cats and kittens entering our local shelters. Our volunteers work with local vets and animal shelters to trap, vaccinate, spay or neuter cats, then return the animals to where they were found. Kittens and cats that can be socialized are taken into foster care by our volunteers and then put up for adoption. All donations to 13th Street Cats help provide food, supplies, spay/neuter, and medical care for homeless cats. BJ (Bagheera) Has Been Waiting for His Person🖤

Sometimes the sweetest cats are the ones who get overlooked. BJ has been waiting with us for quite a while, and we would really love to see his forever family finally find him.

BJ is a 9-year-old handsome black kitty with a little white patch on his belly—and a LOT of love to give.

He’s incredibly friendly, affectionate, and people-oriented. BJ warms up quickly and loves nothing more than being close to his humans. Give him some attention and you'll likely get purrs, headbutts, and biscuits—lots and lots of biscuits.

His favorite place may just be your lap, where he’ll happily knead away until he gets sleepy. He also enjoys playing with his wand toys, but honestly? Being loved is his favorite activity.

BJ is FIV-positive, so he’ll need an adopter who understands his needs and is ready to give this sweet senior boy the loving home he’s been waiting for.

MEET CHAI & MAPLE! 🧡

Double the fluff, double the fun! These adorable 2-month-old brothers who are curious, playful, and always ready for their next adventure.

Chai is a fluffy long-haired boy who loves chasing his brother and exploring everything around him.

Maple is a playful orange-and-white tabby who loves toys, pouncing, and keeping up with his brother! They can be adopted together OR separately to the right home!

A FEW GOOD HOMES NEEDED FOR TWO DISPLACED COMMUNITY CATS 🐾

For years, these cats knew one place as home.

Since 2018, 13th Street Cat Rescue has cared for their colony—providing daily food and water, treating injuries, TNR-ing newcomers, and rescuing kittens for adoption.

But this year, their home was demolished.

As the buildings came down, these cats lost the familiar shelter and surroundings they had known for years.

We’ve already found safe homes for 4 cats, but Phantom and Julius still need somewhere to go.

🖤 Phantom — a handsome tuxedo boy who is quite the talker!
🤎 Julius — a quiet, gentle buff tabby who keeps to himself.

They are independent boys who don't require much—just a safe backyard where they can live peacefully and be cared for.

Meet Desiree! 🐾🌸

Sweet little Desiree is a 4-month-old dilute tortoiseshell girl with a heart as adorable as her coloring!

She LOVES toys, wand play, and wrestling with her brother Vincent and foster sister Classy. After all that kitten fun, she's ready to curl up for a cozy nap with her kitty friends or foster mom.

Desiree was raised with her mama and siblings in a loving foster home, so she's been wonderfully socialized with people.

BELLA & SOPHIA LOREN 💕

We recently introduced you to these two adorable sisters, but we just couldn't resist giving Bella and Sophia Loren another moment in the spotlight!

These two 3-month-old bonded foster sisters are an absolute DREAM TEAM. From zoomies and wrestling matches to cuddly bedtime snuggles, they truly bring out the best in each other.

Bella Loren — our tuxedo little goofball!
Bella is equal parts derpy, athletic, talkative, and affectionate. She LOVES chasing string toys—especially her Cat Dancer—and she's surprisingly agile when she's showing off her acrobatic leaps! She'll happily tell you all about her day with adorable little meows, then turn into a purring machine when it's time to cuddle. At night, she wants to curl up right beside you.

Sophia Loren — our gorgeous tabby with the most expressive eyes!
Sophia is smart, playful, curious, and full of kitten energy. She loves stalking and pouncing on her toys, playing with her favorite toy mouse, and even playing fetch! But don't let her hunter instincts fool you—this girl is also a WORLD-CLASS SNUGGLER. At bedtime, she'll climb onto your chest or snuggle against your neck and drift right off to sleep.

Bella and Sophia would love to find their forever home together, where they can continue being the inseparable little duo they are. They can also be adopted separately if that's the right match for each of them.

Meet Misty C.

Sweet, gentle, and quietly beautiful, Misty C. is looking for a calm place to call home.

Misty is a 4-year-old Lynx Point Siamese who may be shy when you first meet her, but give her a little patience and time, and you'll see her sweet personality shine.

She loves sunbathing, cozy lounging spots, soft head pets, and peaceful companionship. She would thrive in a quiet home with someone who understands that trust takes time—and that earning a shy cat's trust is one of the most rewarding things in the world.

Misty appears to have spent some time outdoors and is blind in one eye, but she gets around just fine. She is spayed, vaccinated, and housetrained, and she's ready for a loving indoor life.

Meet Misty & Dusty — A Second Chance Duo! 🐾

These two beautiful Russian Blue mixes have been through a big change, and now they’re hoping for a second chance at the forever home they deserve.

Misty is a sweet, talkative girl who loves sunbathing, chasing bugs, climbing, and showing off her zoomies. She’ll happily chirp for treats, attention, and some good company.

Dusty is her playful, mischievous brother who loves laser pointers, climbing, stealing treats, sleeping in, and—most importantly—being loved. Underneath his little troublemaker personality is a sweet and snuggly boy.

They were adopted together as kittens but sadly had to be returned due to family circumstances. They are wonderful cats who deserve a loving second chance.

We recently introduced Sven & Mitch, but honestly, have you seen these faces?! 😍 We couldn't resist giving these two adorable boys another moment in the spotlight!

Mitch is a sweet, slightly shy boy who turns into a total snugglebug once he gets comfortable. He loves soft blankets, exploring, wrestling, and having plenty to say—especially first thing in the morning!

Sven is our little explorer. He loves chasing toys, wrestling, investigating everything around him, and following his people from room to room. He's not demanding about cuddles, but he's happiest when he's close by. 💙

They can be adopted together, with another animal companion, or separately into the right home with a feline friend.
