Happy Monday all! We'd like to introduce you to the new owner of Andy’s Pet Shop! We thought the best way to introduce Jonny was to let him tell his own story and share what brought him to this special little shop -
"My name is Jonny, and I have the privilege of being the owner of Andy's Pet Shop. While I've always loved animals, my passion for caring for them began long before I entered the pet industry.
I immigrated to the United States from El Salvador, where my grandparents owned a farm. Growing up surrounded by animals gave me an appreciation for them at a very young age. I learned how animals behave, how to care for them, what they need to thrive, and the importance of treating every animal with patience, respect, and compassion. Those early experiences shaped who I am and continue to influence the way I care for animals today.
My journey with Andy's Pet Shop actually began years before I became the owner. I had the opportunity to work alongside Lissa Shoun for more than five years, and during that time I truly fell in love with the store and everything it stood for. I eventually became the store manager, where I was responsible for everything from placing inventory orders and negotiating with vendors to managing the day-to-day operations of the business.
One of the most rewarding parts of my job was caring for the many rescue animals that came through our doors and helping customers find the right products and advice for their pets. Those years taught me that Andy's has always been about much more than selling pet supplies—it's about building relationships, educating pet owners, and creating a place where every customer feels welcomed and every animal receives the care and respect it deserves.
When the opportunity came to continue Andy's legacy as its owner, it wasn't just a business decision—it was a dream come true. I wanted to preserve everything that has made Andy's such a beloved part of the San Jose community while bringing new ideas, expanding our selection, and creating an even better experience for our customers.
Today, my vision is to make Andy's Pet Shop the premier independent pet store in the Bay Area. We're expanding our premium pet food selection, growing one of the region's best reptile and bioactive departments, offering healthier nutrition for dogs and cats, and continuing to provide the personalized service that has always set Andy's apart.
What I'm most passionate about is helping people become the best pet owners they can be. Whether someone is bringing home their first reptile, looking for the healthiest food for their dog, or simply stopping by to share stories about their pets, I want every visit to Andy's to feel personal. Our goal is to educate, inspire, and build lasting relationships with every customer who walks through our doors.
I'm incredibly grateful to Lissa for the years we worked together and for the trust she placed in me. Those experiences shaped who I am today and prepared me for this exciting new chapter.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Andy's Pet Shop over the years. I'm honored to continue its legacy, and I can't wait to welcome both familiar and new faces as we write the next chapter together."
