We believe there is hope out there in the world for dogs and humans to communicate smarter, learn more and teach better through positive reinforcement and force free training techniques. Our goal is to strengthen the human animal bond by focusing on the relationship. We are using the scientific learning theory and reward based training techniques, which are safe, fun, effective and motivating for all animals. Our mission is happy dogs as well as happy people through training, communication, kindness and education.

California heatwave… how are you guys keeping the dogs cool. Frozen treats, fans, cooling pads, shade, pool, limiting exercise during the day… make sure to, what am I missing?….

Remember to have fun during training and let the dog be a dog. Play is a great reward AND a way to gauge your dog’s level of stress, relaxation, ability to adjust to new environment/situation and comfort. Being playful and interested/engaged with you, not just because you carry food, but because the dog wants to be with you and offering play is a good sign that the dog feeling comfortable.

Come! Recall! One of the best things to teach your dog. Our little teenage friend has been “ignoring mom”, sometimes the outside is more fun, intriguing smells that must be explored, and less motivated to come inside. We made it fun and taught him that shaking the bells by the door (emergency call cue) means hurry inside for a surprise. It did not take long until we got reliable and speedy results. Why “come” looses steam overtime… lack of motivation, learned irrelevance, too many distractions for their skill level, fear and inconsistent handling, consequences, not enough of an understanding of what is needed. Let’s changed that!

Learning to fist bump, a target touch can be an easy tool to create an engagement, increase confidence, for guests to do instead of petting. Some dogs only enjoy petting my their immediate family, and that is okay! By listening to our dogs bodylanguage we can follow a consent based approach and prevent unwanted outcomes.

Feed me already!!!!
3 month young puppy learning self control at the bowl. First we learn how to settle on that magical carpet. Then we add duration, rewarding any calm behaviors the puppy is offering and adding small distractions to mock prep for meals.
Curious about her scarf? That is to keep ears clean while eating.
