Recess With Steph Recess With Steph is a dog walking and dog training company located in San Francisco, California, founded by dog-care specialist Steph Miller.

Grounded in the belief that early socialization and training are essential to long, healthy, happy lives, RWS specializes in three things: 1) training young pups to give them the best possible start in life, 2) walking dogs from the beginning of their adolescence and all the way through their adulthood, and 3) providing in-home consultations on a range of behavior issues for dogs of all ages. Our

training methods are exclusively humane and grounded in the principles of modern behavioral science. We are licensed and insured, and we are always current with city regulations and permits.

Hi neighbors, friends, family and colleagues,

We are very excited to let you all know that as of May 1, 2020, we are the proud new owners of Bernal Beast pet supply shop at 509 Cortland Avenue in Bernal Heights! And we are open!

We are your neighbors, Stephanie Miller and Alan Belgard. We have lived in Bernal for the last 17 years, and we’ve each had over 20 years of experience working with animals. Over the years, we’ve been helping clients live harmoniously with their dogs through education: offering in home consultations, teaching public group dog training classes, co-founding a puppy daycare and early socialization center, and owning outdoor off leash dog walking businesses.

It is such an honor that Tony Chrisanthis, the founder who has brought pet supplies to our beautiful neighborhood for the last 25 years, has given us this opportunity to carry on what he started. We are looking forward to being part of this special community and seeing all your faces and meeting your animals.

With each of our respective backgrounds at your disposal, our #1 priority is to keep animals well nourished, healthy and cared for, so that you can continue to nurture and cherish your relationships with your pets as long as possible.

We have lots of plans for the shop! We plan to turn one side of into an event space where we will be offering a variety of fun community options for our neighbors: seminars to educate community members on humane animal guardianship, puppy socials and small dog socials, small sized dog training classes, workshops for kids to promote a love and respect for animals, guest speakers, animal adoption events, pet photography sessions, local artist shows, and much more.

And although this global pandemic will require us to switch gears and put some of our ideas on the back burner for a while, we are going to make the best of this current situation and we hope you will come along with us.

Store hours are 10am - 3pm DAILY Monday-Sunday

Social distancing guidelines will be observed for your safety and the safety of our team members. We welcome our customers to enter the store 1-2 at a time. We ask our customers and team members to wear masks and gloves while in store. We will sanitize surfaces between customers to ensure your safety.

We can't wait to get started and see all of you one day soon! If this is enough info for one day and you need to get back to that home-schooling of children, potty training of puppy, kitty litter cleaning or virtual zoom work meetings (or maybe you're in the front lines of the pandemic, and if so, we are ever grateful to you and will cheer you on at 7pm nightly), then by all means, this is where you can stop reading.
