My sweet girl,
I was just 7 years old when I begged and begged everyday for a dog to love and to call my very own. To this day, about 16 years later, I can say without a doubt that you were the greatest gift ever given to me that day Dad finally gave in and let me bring you home. I named you Dixie after a dog I absolutely adored. Grief comes in many different forms and today I haven’t been able to stop replaying all our days together. You grew with me and brought me an immeasurable amount of joy. Even as the years went by, I could not stop talking about you and laughing about you. I would give so much to relive those moments because those were some of the most simple and purest moments in my life.
Our hearts have been heavy since you left. Thank you for loving us and bringing light into our lives. You are and will always be so, so loved. We will never forget you sweet girl and we will always carry you in our hearts.
