As our pets age, they become much more sensitive to hot weather. Senior pets and those with chronic illnesses often have a harder time regulating their body temperature, making even a warm day uncomfortable or even dangerous.

For pets receiving hospice or palliative care, heat can place additional stress on their bodies. Small adjustments to their daily routine can make a big difference in keeping them comfortable and maintaining their quality of life.

🎆 Fourth of July Pet Safety Tips 🇺🇸🐾

While the Fourth of July is a time for celebration, it can be one of the most stressful days of the year for our pets. Loud fireworks, unfamiliar guests, and holiday festivities can create fear and anxiety. Here are a few ways you can help keep your furry family members safe:

🐶 Keep pets indoors. Even pets that are normally confident can become frightened by fireworks and attempt to escape.

🏡 Create a safe space. Set up a quiet room with their favorite bed, blankets, toys, and calming music or white noise to help mask the sounds outside.

🦴 Provide enrichment. Offer a favorite chew, stuffed Kong, lick mat, or puzzle toy to help keep their minds occupied.

🩵 Microchipping saves lives. Fourth of July is the busiest day of the year for lost pets. Even if your pet wears a collar and ID tags, collars can break or slip off. A registered microchip provides permanent identification and greatly increases the chances of your pet being reunited with you if they become lost. Be sure your contact information is up to date!

🚪 Keep doors and gates secure. Remind guests to be mindful when entering and leaving your home so pets don’t slip outside.

💜 Hospice Care Update 💜

To our wonderful community,

We are incredibly grateful for the trust so many families have placed into us to provide end of life care for their beloved pets. Due to the growing demand for our services and our commitment to proving the highest level of support to the families currently under our care, we are currently at capacity and not accepting any new hospice patients at this time.

We will continue to provide in home euthanasia services and support for families. We encourage pet owners seeking hospice care to reach out to their primary care veterinarian or local hospice providers.

Thank you for understanding and allowing us to be a part of so many pets’ lives and legacies. 🐾

Today we celebrate and honor the extraordinary life of Princeton affectionately known as “PotPot.” 🤍🐾

From the very beginning of his journey with us, it was clear how deeply loved he was by his incredible mom. His goodbye was gentle, surrounded by love, in the place he felt safest.

Some souls leave paw prints that never fade. PotPot’s story doesn’t end here, it lives on in memory, in legacy, and in the profound bond he shared with his mom. 🌈

Seventeen beautiful years by his mom’s side. A lifetime of loyalty, quiet understanding, and a love story only a heart dog could write. ❤️

“If you’re reading this, you may be preparing for your pet’s passing. Please accept my deepest condolences as you navigate this incredibly difficult moment.

There are times when we know, with heartbreaking clarity, that it’s time to say goodbye. And there are other times when the answer isn’t as clear, when doubt, hope, and fear all seem to sit together in the same space.

Wherever you are in your decision-making, please let me tell you what I already know: you are a loving and caring person. The choice to let a beloved companion go is never made casually. It is made with profound love, selflessness, and courage.

Your pet is lucky to have you.

Being an in-home euthanasia veterinarian is a path I never initially envisioned for myself. It is one of the most emotionally challenging corners of veterinary medicine. I walk into strangers’ homes each day, meet a pet I’ve never known, and gently guide their families through what end-of-life looks and feels like. Clients often ask me how I do this work, and the truth is, I don’t fully have an answer.

What I do know is that, despite its difficulty, this work is deeply meaningful. I am honored by the trust my clients place in me. I find beauty in meeting incredible animals, and peace in relieving their suffering. I believe that when it is my time to go, I will be greeted in the great beyond by all the pets I’ve assisted on their journey.

I’m grateful you’re here. I want you to know I’m holding light for you. May you find peace and clarity as you navigate your pet’s health journey.

My hobbies include: laying in bed watching old episodes of Parks and Rec, sitting on my patio in direct sunlight and scouring Zillow for homes and cities I’ll never live in.”
