I’ve been wanting to start a blog of some sort and I’m torn between using Patreon and Substack.

Do any of you have an opinion on either of these?

Do you know of a better option?

❤️ We have more ways to communicate than ever, yet so many people feel lonely, unseen, overwhelmed, or like they have to present a polished version of themselves to the world.

Social media gives us a place to post, but it doesn’t always give us a place to be human. A place where people can show up exactly as they are, including myself.

I’m tired of feeling like I have to push content out. I’m exhausted. But I’ve made so many good friends in rescue that I’d like to have a space outside of Instagram.

If you are a fan of Lee Asher, you should check out their Patreon page. It’s behind the scenes and it’s a really fun group of animal lovers. He does a live every week on Thursday to talk, share updates and laugh—a LOT.
I look forward to it every week. 💕

The art 🖼️ and the artist 😆

This is not an unfamiliar sight to any Great Pyrenees owners out there. I always try to warn adopters that this is most likely going to happen in their yard at some point. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost broken a leg or ankle walking in my yard in the dark and falling into a moon crater that wasn’t there even a few hours prior!

The artist pictured is Batu, a giant guy we rescued from the Merced Shelter with the help of our friend Dog Networking ❤️

Batu is half Pyrenees and half Pitbull! He’s a goofball but also a fierce protector weighing in at 130 pounds.

We love him dearly, and he’s now part of our family. 🤍

Today is $5 Friday and we are trying to raise money for a variety of very important things like vet bills, very expensive medication for two kitties with FIP and also for an expensive dental procedure. 🦷

We need all the help we can get, as our donations (like most non profits these days) have taken a nose-dive.

Why do we prefer adopting kittens out in pairs?

We try not to adopt kittens out as singles, but we know it can be hard to convince first-time cat owners that going from zero cats to TWO is actually a great idea! 😂

🐾 A built-in best friend. Having a familiar companion makes the transition to a new home less scary and can help ease loneliness and separation anxiety.

🐾 Energy has to go somewhere! Wrestling, chasing, and pouncing with a sibling helps kittens burn off those endless bursts of energy instead of directing them toward your furniture, curtains, or unsuspecting feet. 😂

🐾 Built-in entertainment. Two kittens keep each other company, which means you don’t have to be their 24/7 entertainment director, personal wrestling partner, and favorite toy.
